Imagine you are Huddersfield or similar. Going in to the start of the season aiming to get in the playoffs and make it to the Championship. A 5 year plan for many teams in that league would be to make it to the PL. But what's the point? It would be so difficult to stay in the PL, and simply no chance of ever being able to compete at the top.

We've been in the top flight for 70 years. We can (just about) afford to build an incredible, state of the art stadium on the waterfront. In theory, we are in a better position than 90% of the football pyramid. But it's almost impossible for us to compete with the 2-3 teams at the very top.

Give up FIFA, If teams and Fans want to play in Europe and world club championships then don't moan about fixture congestion, If you don't want fixture congestion then finish 10th or lower and throw the cup games early fixture congestion sorts itself out then.

Imagine moaning about fixture congestion while adding self-serving needless tournaments to the calendar.

A very good point. They have ruined these tournaments. The 16-team Euros was an almost perfect combination of quality and inclusion. It's been dire since they expanded it. The last three tournaments have been, arguably, the worst since 1980. Certainly nothing like the quality of 1984, 2000, and 2008.
