My two bosses may be as they trained under Liverpool corporation one was a charge hand at Weston house tree & shrub nursery aged 21 years old he was a genius of a propagating plants the best horticultural man I owe a hell of a lot too - hated bookworms his side kick with him
went to Kew training became the Director of Liverpool parks - I was told by his brother he was miles ahead of him , but he would not of enjoyed the paperwork..
The guy I worked under coud do anything grafting plants budding roses etc etc
Liverpool Corporation was only 2nd to Edinburgh back then as the best parks department in the UK my guy fetched Huyto& Knowles pars up to that level - we won the best in show at Southport no other winner was on that trophy other than Liverpool corporation.....nice photo ;)
 

Anybody from the Liverpool area recognise this place?

I lived here above the pub in the 70’s as a kid. My dad was the landlord there between 1973 to 1978

Aintree pub in Bootle mate.

Pub at the front and had a cabaret / club part attached at the back.

I was between the ages of 5-10 when we lived there so some memories of it.

I went to school at St Matthews in Queens Drive before we moved to the Fylde Coast in 1978.

….ah, I know where it is now. I think there was a betting shop nearby I watched the Grand National in when it was re-run on a Monday.

Old footy mate of mine went to St Matthews in ‘70s, Brian Oliver.
