Transfer Rumour Tyler Dibling

Absolutely, it's undoubtedly a risk. Personally I feel like this is pretty much the ideal time to take risks, we've got a rare chance to have a big rebuild and if we don't put the foundations in place for it now you'd wonder if we ever will. There has to be a balance, and if we had Barry, Aznou and Dibling all come in you'd expect that to be evened out by a few more experienced (although hopefully not actually old) heads added too. I had hoped that we might be able to attract 1 or 2 players who are slightly further along but it seems clear that for whatever reason we haven't been able to. If we'd had to move on from those types I'd rather go for someone in the Dibling mould than someone who is like a pre-Everton Jack Harrison for example - someone who has put up decent numbers in the league but ultimately isn't actually going to get you anywhere.

Indeed. We've not been able to take risks for years because we didn't have a pot to piss in, and the margins were so small. If there's a Chris Wood type, they seemed more sensible than a Sandro.

Agree now would seem a good time, but then our squad size has me pretty nervous.

£35-40m seems a bit high if you consider Spurs bought Brennan Johnson for £47.5m after he played 38 scored 8 in his only premier league season but the lads only 19 and clearly incredibly highly rated…

Quite an exciting signing with limitless potential!
I would not be surprised if Southampton were to insert a sell-on clause into this deal, should it happen. If they really view him as a £100m player in the making, they should be looking at inserting a sell-on clause into the deal to make as much money out of it as possible.

Brennan Johnson had one season in the Premier League at Notts Forest, plus he had some experience in the Championship before that, which helped justify his fee. I was not too keen on this when the news broke last night, due to the large fee in question, yet I can see his potential from the limited clips I have watched from his highlights. In my eyes it is still a risky deal, so I am not sure I can get behind it just yet.

They want Grealish according to Bobble. Dibling on the right, Grealish on the left, Ndiaye through the middle behind Beto/Barry.

For a club at our stage of development and considering where we’ve been the last few years, nobody can moan at that attacking unit.

Central midfield still needs addressing mind you.
That's the best that we have had for years. Let's hope it comes to fruition.

Lash Hackney or Douglas Luiz in, and I'm a happy camper.

Hypothetical: £40mil for Dibling or Harrison on loan for £10mil?

Southampton were a train wreck last season. I wouldn’t judge any individual player from there too much to be honest.

Six months ago it would have been a pipe dream us even thinking we had a chance to sign him when every top club were linked. Very Ndiaye like in the way he plays, street footballer with bags of skill. If we aren’t going to be winning pots anytime soon, I’d at least like to be entertained watching us play and these two together would be a joy to watch.

Very true. Hence why i said if we did buy this lad...we need more.

And yes midfield too

How far along is this lad in his development compared to say Anthony Gordon when we sold him for similar figures?

Is he ready to come in and make a difference straight away?

I’m happy to have project players, but for figures in the £30-40m ballpark, we kind of need to be seeing instant returns. I’m not expecting 10+ g/a by any means straight away like.
