Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Luiz I’ve said all along is someone we should be avoiding even on loan. Big money, crap year at Juve, not turning up to training etc. We need to be finding the next version, the younger one

All reports are we aren’t that interested and our name is being thrown around by the agent, one previously very well known to us
Signings like him are what got us in the mess of previous years. I can appreciate the sudden sense we have found, I just don't want us to be too sensible 😂😂

Can’t win if we are really honest. He is the type of player that a Brighton usually sign. Then when he inevitably goes to Chelsea in 3 years for 60 million, we come on here to moan that we didn’t snap him up. Everton are literally damned if they do and damned if they don’t when it comes to all transfers.
They bought cheap foreigners in most cases. Hardly bought overpriced English youth for £30m do they…

Welcome to August....

So, what have we got:

1. Luiz - off to Forest??
2. Dibling - offer rejected (seems some way below the Southampton estimation) - Let's hope for a throw in of a transfer request
3. Kubo - too expensive
4. Fofana - Awaiting a CL club
5. Luis - A couple of suggestions the last few days and links last summer I understand. I would be on board with this one
6. The man who must not be named - one for the unconcerned folks
7. Hackney, Brownhill - not good enough apparently

Anyone I have missed as an August 1st summary?

Appreciate we are looking at some wide players here, but I feel if Luiz fails especially then not sure we have adequate back-up list for our star CM.

Maitland Niles and if you mention Brownhill then add desperate bid for Soucek or Coufal

Harrison and Doucoure

Unsure why anyone is getting their knickers in a twist about the fee etc, TFG are very unlikely to have just given a set amount to spend in transfers unless they are idiots.

Far more likely us they have given a rough ball figure in terms of wages and fees and complete costs allowed within a range fir the dinner spend - likely season spend.

Dibling for 35m on say 35k per week, with minimal signing fee for 5 years, costs. 9m in wages so total costs commited too is 44m

Now say Fofana is wanting 120k per week and costs 40m with same signing fees etc. 31.2m in wages so total commitment is 71.2m

Over a 27m difference

Do that on say 2-3 signings and what would look like only 15m more spent is actually spending or commitng to spending close to 80m extra and has to be factored in.

The combined fee and wage costs are gonna be the budget this year. Not some arbitrary - we have 150m to spend in fees.

So for a player wanting much higher wages we are more restricted in how high the fee can go, if wage demands are much more reasonable then we have way more room to increase the initial fees.

I'm guessing Dibling currently on a youth contract at Saints is asking for a lot less than either Kubo or Fofana would be - hugely less in fact.

Same can be applied to Douglas Luiz who'd cost 30-35m with currently 150-175k per week say compared to the cost of buying Mcatee who'd in all likelihood cost less initial and far far less on wages, so what would look a similar outlet for the club on fee would actually be 30m cheaper a deal.
