agree bout his qualities but overpriced surely if saints want 30m and more

palace got olise for much less and to my eye dibling is not even as easy on the eye
I feel we are at that point now that we have to realize, we are in no position of strength and are quite frankly getting desperate for players and quality players.

Overpriced, sure. If we want him we have to meet the valuation and the kind of profile we could get many years of quality out of him. Or failing this, a couple of good years and still expect he has the potential to then go for 1.5-2 times the price we paid for him at the age of 22/23.

I cannot find much tbh, but google suggesting he is only on about 5k per week (surely cannot be right)..... So his wages aren't going to be excessive and will be balanced out by a slightly inflated initial fee (taking the whole contract into account).

Lots of clips of him turning his defender, very few of him crossing the ball? Not sure about this feller’s output, but there is no doubting he is quick and we desperately need pace. However, I hope this ins’t a “this is getting embarassing” scenario, where we are now turning to anybody who is willing to come here? I’d rather they gamble on lower league players than go down that route again.

i also feel that too now that moyes has been calling it out for what it is regarding the perception of our club

so if moyes wants dibling yea we shd risk it and over pay now

in the same vein we can afford to over pay for fofana and kubo too unless moues doesnt fancy em that much of cuz

Predominantly right wing but versatile and has played in a variety of positions. Impressive for someone so young. I’m sold.

Russell Martin, the ex Saints manager, thinks Dibling’s long-term position is as a 10. With us RW will be his route to game time but versatility is always valuable. Now we just need to increase our bid and actually sign him so we can finally have some payback on our endless winger discussions.

I think he would be better used as a number 10 rather than a winger. Hope we can sign both him and someone like Fofana.

He's definitely going to be an attacking centre mid in future. I think he played there for Southampton youth teams, seen a video where he scored a hattrick from ACM.

But for now, right wing i think

This is where our full backs come into play I guess..... Thinking of a Pienaar / Baines connection.

Although not sure we have the efefctive FB's right now, but at least we know Moyes likes them pushing up and whipping balls into the box.

With 3 big strikers all of the same mold (ish) then getting crosses in from wide would be helpful. I have seen a few clips of Dibling taking on playes and then passing it into the box and finding a man - typically the late arriving midfielder on the edge.

Is Fofana definitely all that? His G/A stats are ok but not that much better than Dibling in a much better team in a worse league. Remember how good Pepe looked and his stats before he went to Arsenal.
I like the looks of him (more so than Kubo). But yeah, it often makes sense at least to go for one with Premier league experience and we know can play and play well at that level (stats may not be great) in a very poor Southampton side.

Felt the same way watching his highlights, he is very young though

unrealistic in what way?

The other posters were saying that his fee was £50-100mil while i think i said £35-40mil would get him.

So that and the fact they thought as hes one of the top young players in England he'd go to a top 4 club.

But he and Rigg were my top two picks pre window and before Sunderland were promoted.

Fofana looks good on the eye and he's super super fast, but is he much better - unknown totally, Dibling for a cheaper initial price and far cheaper player costs in terms of wages and fees for a player who actually wants to be here with no messing us about.

Rather have Dibling.

Signing a young player with about 1 goal to his name for £40 million should be unrealistic from our side, not Southampton's. This might be controversial but I'd rather sign Harvey Elliott. If you want a left footed player who can dribble, assist and score a few goals, he has already done it in the Premier League, isn't that old and would probably cost about the same amount.

I tend to agree. Players that overly rely on pace can be a bit one dimensional and flatter to deceive. Dibling might have a bit a bit of magic in boots. His close control and dribbling looks a bit special if he can add end product in a better team. Imagine having two wingers with genuine ability rather than one of them being Jack Harrison. Just get him.
