Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

If you haven’t watched the two pre-season games against premier league opposition and you think people are bedwetting then you are in for a bit of a shock.

We’ve looked less fit as them, we have a really weak and thin squad and the football has been sloppy and nowhere near the levels of the opponents, apart from maybe 20 minutes against Bournemouth.

Coming back from the USA on the back of 3 defeats to PL opponents isn’t a good look for any team.

The people calling it bedwetting are the same people who thought it was a good idea to give calamity Keane another contract.

Not only have we got a thin squad, it’s also filled with a handful of players who aren’t good enough, like Patterson, Keaneto to name but 2.

I was getting told the other week that midfield isn’t an urgent position to address because we technically on paper have 5 players that can play there.

I’m reaching here.. but.. before people start with the usual ‘who’s going to want to join us after watching that’ spiel I’d wager there will be plenty of players thinking they would be absolutely guaranteed starters in this team and that may actually be a decisive factor in them joining.. some players will prioritise minutes over money, especially the up and comers.

Weak as piss in there aren’t we.

Gana out and we look championship in CM.

Luckily we’ve got Zats favourite Riquelme clone in the ten to come in…

Seriously though we need a proper midfielder in there, I’m all in on Luiz - risky though it is.

If people think just adding Branthwaite and Tarkowski will be a miracle cure then they are mistaken. It will make it stronger, but heaven help if one of them gets injured long term.

We need 3 new players ready to go straight into that team as well as back up off the bench.

When United pump us by 4 or 5, Josh Brownhill will become primo Andres Iniesta overnight.

I nearly drowned in bed last night, such was the moisture.
If will be more than 4 or 5...we are completely unprepared right now. Not sure if it would be better just not play that game and come back earlier back home. The only thing that is going to do is take out the very little confidence remaining we had at the back end of last season.

Armstrong yes.

Iroegbunam if we could bring in £15mil and upgrade, i'd sell.

The list seems to be the similar situation as to when Man Utd hired him and his targets were Bale level or nothing.

They did of course pay above the Fellaini clause (that he was aware of) due to low balling for too long.

He's not on Moyes list :p

He's clearly a good coach. But theres some areas of management he shouldnt be leading.
Times have changed and so has the man apparently, he is a winner now. The list must have more names now, must. Or I don't mind some unknowns thrown as well. He did mention players around the age of 25+ being the main target group.

This has not been a good window so far for us, that’s plain to see, but other than a few top teams who can splash the cash for fun, who has had a good window?

Probably only Sunderland - who perhaps are gambling offering contracts we will no longer risk. Other teams around us weakened in quality not just numbers - Glasner echoing Moyes saying he is down to bare bones, with Eze still likely to go. Brentford having a fire sale and Wissa still wanting out. Wolves doing very little etc…

Towards the top, Newcastle have struggled - secured Elanga but Isak wants out. Villa - no one of note. Forest - perennial transfer madness has not happened.

I think the divide between those with the money and those without has never been bigger and is having a huge impact. Agents all holding out for a payday, but there are only so many to go around. As and when Chelsea and co shut up shop and say their business is done I think it will be chaos and will have our chances. In our favour is that we don’t need to appear to sell to buy, so can avoid being in a chain so to speak but as we’ve seen for so many years and Moyes is suggesting, we’re not good at getting things over the line. Kinnear has said it will be later in the window but by the time it is closed we will have an exciting team. Time will tell.

Yup there's a clear divide between the perennial CL teams and the rest - I'll caveat the promoted teams as they literally have to thrown money around like prime moshiri to even have a slim hope of staying up these days.

The rest almost seems to hd e come to a conclusion that paying silly and ever escalating wages is no longer sustainable, especially if the PSR regs on wages come into some force.

Maybe we are witnessing clubs trying to regain control in negotiations and what players are earning as they've been far exceeding the increase in turnover for too long as it's reached breaking point now I feel on terms of sustainability for the majority of PL teams.

Genuinely this would be what I suggest. A pointless exercise sending that team out there to be demolished and risk further injury to the handful of players we have left.

Disgraceful window. I wouldn’t be surprised if Moyes walked at the end of this month. The recruitment team don’t have a clue what they’re doing.
