Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Right now across the league we are seeing a weird situation, the only clubs in the league doing any noticeable business are the ones with the huge CL level incomes and United (who are throwing huge inflated fees and wages at players) and the newly promoted sides, who are desperately trying to buy survival with the extra 150m that comes with being in this league who again are throwing inflated fees and wages at their electricity of player they are bringing in.

The rest - majority of the other teams are all seemingly struggling - almost as if there's been a disconnect between what the none CL teams are offering and what the agents/players are expecting from the traditional premier League cash cow.

Question now becomes - who bends first on this, the clubs who need the players so will start paying what they want, or the players who settle for lesser contracts whilst still significant upgrades. The clubs need the players but the players and agents also need these moves.

May sound weird but if we say and similar clubs do too. That we are shaving 30k from contracts - across a season that's 1.6m, doesn't sound a game breaker but across 10 players you're looking at 16m. Not even counting agents fees and signing bonuses which have all spiraled.

Gonna be a very interesting August to see now, a LOT of players are out there wanting moves, and up to now little movement from most clubs

I just think the transfer market is too competitive, teams are rightfully holding out for big money from desperate PL clubs and we aren't ballsy enough to take chances on more players like Adam and unknowns and find gems. Other leagues are memeing on us because they know we and our competitors have dough. It's just a sad reality. If everyone has money, there will be higher demand which means higher prices. Shame we came into the money too late and it started with a terrible owner in Moshiri.

As I posted in the Keane thread...

We apparently had a deal with a club + the player but Moyes cancelled it and extended the deal with Keane.

Of course we dont know the player/club. However, surely this shows that Moyes is making decisions.

Unless were blaming Hammond for poor negotiation (small margins to play with?) or Kinnear for not signing off higher fees...

...who is responsible?

It strikes me that spending £4mil on a backup keeper who was seemingly unwanted anywhere else, perhaps wasnt the wisest use of funds.

But thats splitting hairs.

Ultimately, we know Moyes has had major issues at United when signing high profile players.

We also know he fell out with DOF(s) at West Ham and poorly recruited at Sunderland.

The fact is that Moyes is 'known' to want control. Do people really believe he's not in control of players names on lists? Nor is he in control of agreeing budgets with Kinnear and Hammond?

He has form for complaining in public at United and West Ham.

If its a money issue then he knows it already and shouldnt be publically commenting on it.

If its a challenge and a delay due to going for targets looking at a higher level then he is also aware of it.

What is he actually doing other than throwing his toys out of the pram that players he has selected (after supposedly months of preparation) arent jumping to play for him?

I'm interested to understand how this doesnt fall on him.
Utter Balls again from you.

Moyes is coaching the players currently, not sitting down with clubs and agents and closing transfer deals.

You think hes just left a list of names and thats his part completed?

If so then that would explain his summer at united dont you think?

This is it.

The club surely didn't just have an 'A list' of players and has been caught cold by their rejections.

There must surely have been optimistic signings (A list) that were worth a pop at, then realistic ones (B and C list) that should have been much easier to get over the line.

But apparently there wasn't. Everton clearly aren't approaching 2nd and 3rd choice players and being rejected all over the place.

Huge failure by all of those in charge of getting deals done—namely Hammond and Kinnear.

I wonder if were still stuck on the A list as theres no final decision from players and theres a lack of alternative names on a list.

Clearly a huge divide on what Everton and e.g Chelsea can pay in fees and wages.

It makes sense for players to hold out...BUT surely, i mean SURELY there have been discussions about this for months?

Fantastic riposte.
