Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I don’t care if the recruitment team are fuming, the manager has every right to be calling their dreadful performance out. The state of the squad is a disgrace and we are in huge trouble if we don’t bring a minimum of 5 quality players in in the next 4 weeks.

As I posted in the Keane thread...

We apparently had a deal with a club + the player but Moyes cancelled it and extended the deal with Keane.

Of course we dont know the player/club. However, surely this shows that Moyes is making decisions.

Unless were blaming Hammond for poor negotiation (small margins to play with?) or Kinnear for not signing off higher fees...

...who is responsible?

It strikes me that spending £4mil on a backup keeper who was seemingly unwanted anywhere else, perhaps wasnt the wisest use of funds.

But thats splitting hairs.

Ultimately, we know Moyes has had major issues at United when signing high profile players.

We also know he fell out with DOF(s) at West Ham and poorly recruited at Sunderland.

The fact is that Moyes is 'known' to want control. Do people really believe he's not in control of players names on lists? Nor is he in control of agreeing budgets with Kinnear and Hammond?

He has form for complaining in public at United and West Ham.

If its a money issue then he knows it already and shouldnt be publically commenting on it.

If its a challenge and a delay due to going for targets looking at a higher level then he is also aware of it.

What is he actually doing other than throwing his toys out of the pram that players he has selected (after supposedly months of preparation) arent jumping to play for him?

I'm interested to understand how this doesnt fall on him.

It’s the recruitment team’s fault that we aren’t recruiting players, as the manager keeps repeatedly alluding to.

You’ve totally lost the plot here, a mad obsession with David Moyes

Weirdo

Well the recruitment team at senior level consists of 3 people.

Moyes to identify the players
Hammond to negotiate
Kinnear to sign off

If the players arent keen to join then perhaps the wrong players have been identified?

This is it.

The club surely didn't just have an 'A list' of players and has been caught cold by their rejections.

There must surely have been optimistic signings (A list) that were worth a pop at, then realistic ones (B and C list) that should have been much easier to get over the line.

But apparently there wasn't. Everton clearly aren't approaching 2nd and 3rd choice players and being rejected all over the place.

Huge failure by all of those in charge of getting deals done—namely Hammond and Kinnear.
