Match Thread Everton v West Ham. Wed 30th July. 23.30

In all seriousness with every defeat and poor performance the pressure to get players in is put more and more on the toes of TFG.

Your new ground and bright new era counts for nothing if your in another relegation battle.

Can’t paper over the cracks now. This is a poor squad, with no speed, minimal attacking ability and two strikers who are at best ‘raw’…not even including Chermiti!
What is worse is just the abject performances, these players look miserable.

Tarkowski after tonight’s game:

“I think it's obviously a small group. You can see we've got quite a few young lads here with us, so the lads are getting a lot of minutes on the pitch at the minute, which is nice for them, but it's obvious we're going to sign players at some point. I'm sure there'll be a few more numbers to come through the door before the start of the season.”

That’s now two senior players along with the manager who’ve come out and spoke about the need for signings and how desperate we are, what’s it gonna take for them to actually make some?

Not a great spectacle but I got to see how obvious the needs are

Patterson isn't premier league level. No hate, he didn't buy himself. Just needs to move on. He's not even JJK level.

McNeill isn't a RWer he's too one-footed for it to work.

They may improve but this season Tim and Garner are not up to the level.
Garner loves letting people get goal side or just watch the game like he's sat in the stand.

Also, hope that goalie never sees a start. Punches a catch and punches badly. Something happened where Myko was in the way so it looks like he didn‘t shout to claim the ball

I know they`re only saying how things really are, but if you`re being interviewed on tv and saying after another pre-season defeat how bad things are with being short of numbers and really needing to bring in extra bodies, its hardly painting a good picture of things in a way that might encourage some good players to sign for us.

His fanboys will be on in a minute to defend him.

He truly is the worst.

TFG keeping Everton overheads and squad sizes nice and lean.

Or perhaps they've confused us with watching Chelsea.

Two factors for me:
1. How's TFG off field finances and multi club model doing? They've shelled out to date, are they now a bit strapped?

2. Moyes and recruitment
Why are we less attractive than Bournemouth, Brighton, etc. it's not simply Europe. Smaller clubs had no problem bringing in talent on a shoe string without European football

We have what will—sadly—ultimately prove to be 90% of our midfield and attacking lineup available to us right now playing, and they cannot create a bean between them.

Gueye, Garner, Ndiaye, McNeil, Alcaraz, Barry.

I can only hope that at least two of those are replaced in the starting line up come September.

After all this time, literally years, has the club still not realised they need some pace in the side?

Absolutely shambolic.
