….not so sure it’s solely because ‘CL clubs pay more money’. It’s a bit of a daft statement for them to make, considering the likes of Rangers/Celtic are in the CL every season.

I think they’re referring to the high-profile CL clubs and it’s that profile that appeals to their ego as much as any extra monies. They’ll know a move to any PL club will mean earning big bucks.

To be fair it's not just the wages. These lads have got absolutely massive egos, they want to play in the Champions League because it comes with more prestige and all that. It makes perfect sense really, we'd think it was weird if a player turned down playing in the PL to play in League One, it's just an extension of the same thing.
