That’s fine and when they’ve had a few years and maybe we have got into Europe they can play hard ball and then top players also may want to join and that outs us in a stronger position. But right now this window is a car crash and it’s August the 1st tomorrow and we haven’t signed a starter for our first 11. They need to go and pay the extra 5 mil and go and 2/3 quality starters in the next week. It’s not like we can’t afford it

Still one more full day of July for us to get things done before August hits!!

Then it’s one less excuse to be made

It’s because of the quality of players we’re trying to target, luiz, kubo, fofana, grealish, McAtee etc and probably a few others that haven’t made into the media. I’m pleased this is the way they have gone and not just signed anyone to get bodies in. But they’re now at a crossroads of which way they go

Nobody wants to come when offered "normal" to low wages. There has to be financial incentives for the players to come. We are trying for elite players, but dont want to pay the fee/wages for those required to get deals done. I am guessing something is failing in the negotiations.

Some fans think, it’s because half the fan base didn’t want him back and we all remember dithering Dave, he’s basically looking after himself, like he’s saying to tbe fans it’s not my fault. Long term I dont think it would have gone down well with kinnear and Hammond etc

We aren’t trying for the same level of players as Sunderland. Unless you want us to spend 20mill on a nearly 33 year old Granit Xhaka

Literally no players are deciding where to go from watching a news outlet.

They are having actual conversations with directors and managers and discussing fees and wages. They could care less what the news show, they care how much they get paid.

I get that but other clubs sign relatively unknown players for reasonable fees and they turn out to be very good. Maybe we just need to look harder and do some research for once.
