Transfer Rumour Malick Fofana

There is of course, nothing currently indicating we haven't already moved on/been told no chance etc.

This is likely dead in the water already.

I do expect news of a Hackney bid today however.

Here's a thought

Maybe the lad can't even make a decision as we've not met Lyon's asking price.
Match their price
We'll know straight away if he comes or not.

If no , move on sharpish.
Nowadays it doesn’t seem to be just the price but how the payments are structured and things like sell on rights etc.
All clubs are trying to structure finances to get the most value without breaching fiscal regulations.
It is far more complicated than it used to be .

I'd move on. Its clear he doesn't want to come to us, or he'd have forced a move by now. Its not like our offer isn't close to their asking price. A deal could be reached with some addons. It's a lot of money to spend on a player that's not fully invested in the move. We might be better spending that sort of cash on a dynamic right sided winger.

I figure his answer would be he'll wait an see.

If not, he'll sign for a desperate team who have been in or around the relegation positions for the last five years, not far off the bottom.

Italics the managers words.

Nothing wrong with being in for players like him - but at some point pragmatism has to, and will kick in.
Take both Kudos and Diaz, as a club with both those we were in a mess but both were happy to come, did they see us as their dream club, nope both would have wanted to move on soon as CL club interest came from this league - even Richy did that mind.
So both would have been happy to move here as part of the route to where they wanted to get too. Use us as a stepping stone kinda.

Question now for this lad is does he think that way or is he of the opinion he is already at that next level ready to go straight to the CL side, maybe he's got a big enough ego he does, or maybe he will realise that if the move doesn't happen then he needs that interim step. Lot depends on what his agent advises and the players mentality.

It's like it's more for deflection than anything else, we would have done this but in the end the player chose x and we didn't have enough time to get another/and or there was no one out there that improved our squad.

Take comfort in the players we are trying to get though...

To be fair, start of July the same "player wants CL club" was put into the media when Forest agreed price with Lyon so to me it's clearly the player not how much we're offering Lyon.

Why do you expect that mate?
I've got a few links to Journalists up here and I know we've already had a previous tentative bid rejected around 16.5m plus add-ons.

They seemed sure any Ipswich/other accepted bid would accelerate things from our side as there is definite interest. It just depends on how any other targets are progressing in the meantime.

I say today as time is running out, so that's more of a 2+2=4 on my part. Hackney doesn't have huge interest in Ipswich long term but a nice pay rise and probably more chance at promotion by moving now could sway him. He's meant to be training today, but unlikely to feature in their friendly against Hartlepool tonight.
