Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

This is exactly my concern, Luiz would be great, would love him. But we are a fall back for him and more expensive, If Hackney is second or third choice, I would have thought prior to US trip we said to Luiz we are moving on and signing Hackney.... I fear we hold out hope for top choice, get spurned and then choice 1c, or 2a (next tier) are all gone...

Is it better to have a perhaps half hearted, but much better player here using us as a stepping stone in August (a Fofana), or someone down the list in July who is over the moon to be here (Maybe Fellows)?

Excluding the signings made, the way I'd look at it with Moyes saying he wanted up to 10 players is to have 3 options in play for each of the other 6 transfers.

So that's 18 prospective signings in play. If rejected by each and every one of your top 6 targets, you still have 12 in play.

Getting 4 from 12 seems modest and doable even if you've had to work down the list.

The way things are developing though, they might all very well be loans. They seem stuck in a bind between needing numbers but not convinced about the players they might be able to get, so that's where the stopgap loan solution comes in.

Going into Sept 1 and needing to do that much business is very risky though and an indication of failure.
That is exactly what I hope goes on, I'd take target 3 if he came in early even if target 1 was still available.....

You'd have to assume the manager thought he was contributing something, because he kept picking him. I'm with you in theory like, i'm not saying no you're an idiot if you can't see what Harrison brought to the team, but the fact is the bloke who picked the team evidently thought he was at least relatively useful to us, and replacing him with somebody else who he feels that way about is therefore pretty important.

I reckon if we had more fit players he'd never have got half his minutes. Mostly used to fill in and rest players in games. If you look at his mins under Moyes it's basically just because McNeil and Ndiaye were out. And we know this because Moyes whinged about his and Lindstrom's output didn't he.

To be fair, I understand more the people losing their composure than I do the people claiming we've got this/acting like Man Utd fans were with INEOS.

I've no confidence in Everton's new recruitment team until they give a reason to be.

So far, they've failed to bring in players to give adequate pre-season.

Let's see where we are come the first game of the season.
Like with Thelwell we’re linked with the best players in our price bracket but none are keen to join. Hopefully a few open minded can see past our failures in the last 5-6 seasons and the project stadium & investment to see we can go places.

Lindstrom would've 100% started over Harrison most of the time had he not gotten injured at the back end of the season.

Of course both are gone now though, which is why it's important that we needed to bring a new wide forward in before September to at least improve in that area rather than just stand still..

Alternate view, he may not have a direct line to TFG and need to go through the hierarchy.

This may be Moyes way of saying we need to start doing deals NOW with the funding you've provided. Hoping that Friedkin will get on the blower to Kinnear and say ok get several deals over the line even if it takes that bit extra

this is not the moyes of old who pandered to kenwright. loving this new moyes who's come to the home country of our yankee owners and telling it like it is.

IN DA MOYESIAH WE TRUST

You replace nobody with nobody = net neutral.

This is all stemming from a "we've lost so much" argument btw. You can't lose that which wasn't there.

But the idea was always to replace these players wasn’t it? Like I’m sure it doesn’t need explaining that, when people said they wanted Doucoure and Harrison out they meant actually bring in upgrades on them? Not that we should or could afford to literally let them walk out and bring in nobody

I'd prefer a player of SLIGHTLY lesser quality (example our 3rd/4th choice for that role) that is driven to be here, than someone's fall back option. but that is my take.

I've not said we should bring nobody in? Do I have to tattoo my lineup diagram on your forehead, Michael

McNeil was available in the last game, but came off the bench while Harrison started.
