Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

And what if we don’t pull off those signings and end up signing the crap players in the end anyway? You’re not allowed to be annoyed about that.
I want my club to aim higher than Bournemouth and Brighton and I won’t be annoyed if we have to settle at the end of the window by bringing in players that aren’t quite as good as what we’re going for when we’re trying to be better

It’s a risk, but I’m glad we’re trying

You wish to joke and laugh about pre-season friendlies..... But 4 games, 1 goal from open play and aside from some decent play in the first half against Bournemouth then no positives. Unless we take into account no real big injuries.

Not ideal preparation is it?
I genuinely couldn’t give a single damn about friendly results

I’ve seen us win friendlies and start the season terribly and I’ve seen us lose friendlies and start the season really well

I do not care in the slightest as long as nobody gets injured

A risk that if it doesn’t pay off we will be in a relegation battle. We have 1 CM fit for purpose, who is 36 and off to the AFCON in January. Our starting right winger if McNeil, who’s not a right winger, gets injured, is Isaac Heath. People need to wake up right now, everything is not fine.

OK so regardless of the results... you are happy with what you have seen so far in the 4 friendlies?

We've had terrible pre seasons for 3 or 4 years and haven't won a league game in August since 2021. I think this time of year matters a lot more than people sometimes suggest. Preparation matters more and more with how competitive and physical the PL has become. I don't think we are going to be ready for the first few games of the season.

This squad minus Doucoure, Young and DCL who everyone said weren’t good enough, plus Barry and Aznou finished in a European position based off results since Moyes took over

Everything is fine

But what have we lost compared to your preferred scenario if we do end up there?

I'll tell you the answer to that - we would have lost the possibility of seeking out the quality signings that we crave. Which is what we're currently trying to do.
