Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

No we’re trying to sign players who are interested but are good enough that champions league clubs might make a move so they’re waiting to see all their options before committing, it’s not like we’re approaching Mbappe

Honestly I much prefer this than filling our squad early with ‘good players who do a job’
We're targeting players who want champions league football, naturally if they don't get that interest they will move on to europa league clubs before us. How many of these do you actually expect to fall all the way down to us?

If he 'agreed' with you, then where are Harrison, Coufal, Brownhill etc. mate? surely he'd have brought them in long before now if he thought that we didn't have a squad at all? :coffee:

What? He’s literally just come out and said we are miles behind where we need to be and he wanted loads more players in by now?!?

What should happen for the Leeds game is we put out a team extremely similar to the one that finished the season so well.

A solid back 5

Garner and Gueye in the middle

McNeil Alcaraz Ndiaye behind Beto or Barry.

Even then we’d still have Barry Aznou Irogebunam Armstrong Chermiti Keane Patterson Coleman sat on the bench.

If Leeds is a total shambles it’s because the fitness of the team and their preparation isn’t correct because at the end of last season that same 11 would probably have gone there and won considering it was doing that at Fulham Forest and Newcastle. It won’t be because we haven’t bought in 5 first team players.
Please correct me if i'm wrong as cannot be bothered looking re the next sentence....

Tarkowski and Branthwaite are both injured with the former not playing a single minute ot pre-season football. I also understand he was injured end of last season too...

But at this moment JOB and Keane center backs with Patterson RB is the current starting line up for Leeds game barring any miracles.

Defence is currently least of our issues certainly when it comes to recruitment.

Let's not get started on McNeil RW.

Also take into account that Alcaraz and McNeil have clearly shown their fitness isn't the best and tire very easily towards the end of the games then we are screwed as there is nothing on the bench to change it up.

As shown against Bournemouth.... decent first half, but thumped in the second. Same will happen tonight. Same at this stage will happen against Leeds, especially on their return to the Premier League on a Monday evening at Elland Road. We will get over-run completely.... Nothing to do with fitness and preparation.... it's to do with lack of quality in the squad.

Something that we should have had a much better plan for.

I mean it is possible. We've had CL-level players here before with no CL ourselves.. albeit that got paid a kings ransom for it like admittedly.

Maybe we should stop trying to sign the elite players who have no interest in joining us and just focus on players who would improve us and get us going in the right direction
Same people who are saying wait are the same people who also say things aren't going to change in one transfer window.....We need to be realistic and yes ok let's go for those players initially as A list, but as soon as we know they do not want to join us or we cannot meet the valuations due to budget constraints etc then so be it, let's move on and get prepared properly for the new season.

How far behind that do you think we are as a proposition?

We’re a premier league mainstay with a fantastic stadium, rich owners, big fanbase and midtable-ish squad.

Bayern bought Diaz and the RS are buying Isak apparently. These were the main two linked with Fofana so this looks very possible.
I like to think we’re not stupid enough to be waiting if there isn’t a good chance.

Who are these players we’re waiting around for that we can’t afford or don’t want to join us?
I haven’t heard any of that…

The problem that surfaces with a higher class of players if you don't have champions or Europa League you typically have to expend excessive amounts of money over the players value like united we don't have absurd money to employ like those Christmas party canceling ghouls so we have to be savvy with the resources at our disposal.

I would of preferred some additional players at this point and fathom why people are wary of the current situation, but I think it's still too early to call this window a debacle, if it's the Leeds game and we've made no further signings I would consider that problematic. Once again that's just my stance if you want to be incensced over the lack of active live it up, but a lot of you seem to post 500 messages just to convey the same thing you've already stated, I get it you're livid

What on earth are you talking about?
*sigh*

Christ mate, do keep up..

If Moyes was that concerned that we wouldnt have a squad by the end of the transfer window then do you think the clubs current strategy of targeting the players theyre currently targeting would've held up beyond this month? why didn't they just go out and replace the outgoing dross with more dross before preseason even began?

Thats right - because he likely, infact, doesnt agree with your take on the squad.. and probably still doesnt!

He's clearly frustrated that we dont have more players in... but not once has he claimed that we 'dont have a squad'.
