Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

It's pretty normal to have a couple of injuries. We are unlucky its 2 in the same position, but plenty of other clubs have 2 or 3 injuries. Our problem is we absolutely do not have the squad to even deal with a small number of injuries or players unavailable.

Defence is actually the one position where on a paper we have two players per position

Pickford/Travers

Coleman/Patterson Tarkowski/Keane Branthwaite/O’Brien. Mykolenko/Aznou

We can manage an injury but it will be annoying for me if once again Everton start a season with Michael Keane playing.

But asking prices mean nothing if a player has a better option.

I'm all for paying the asking price of a single player who can act as a beacon for others, but it won't matter if they are waiting on more attractive offers.

We should be paying the asking price for players who are willing to come. Now.
Other then Forfana the others havnt said they wont come. Barry left a CL team to come here

That’s a better 11 than Leeds will put out. They need to go and show it. It’s probably a better opportunity for a more joined up performance than trying to bed in 5 players into an 11 that have hardly played together.
Yup, I won't be listening to any excuses if we go there and lose. A largely unchanged side (even allowing for a few knocks) is an advantage at this stage of the season. Moyes is no fool. This is not his first rodeo. He'll know if recruitment fails this summer he's toast. He'll have to come up with a plan B. But the bigger picture is these new owners are showing deep naivety and incompetence in a summer of transformation. We've got bigger problems than the manager...

Maybe we should stop trying to sign the elite players who have no interest in joining us and just focus on players who would improve us and get us going in the right direction
No we’re trying to sign players who are interested but are good enough that champions league clubs might make a move so they’re waiting to see all their options before committing, it’s not like we’re approaching Mbappe

Honestly I much prefer this than filling our squad early with ‘good players who do a job’

So we’re screwed from 60 mins onwards then. Hope we’ve built up a big lead by that point.

That bench is literally better than some of the ones we had last season with two keepers and youth players sat on it.

It’s not where anyone wants it to be but it’s still more than enough to play a game against Leeds. Stop acting like they’re about to unleash Modric Kroos and Bale off their bench after the 60 minute mark to run us ragged.

The club seriously needs to change their approach in the market not going for those "elite" as they clearly want European football we've been a struggling club for too long players don't have enough commitment for Everton currently it's either that and they overpay on players and back to square one with moaning fans

Actually we are at that point tbh.
No we aren't. We will be at that point in the last week of the window if we miss all of our targets.

At the moment we are being ambitious with the sort of player we want and yeah, we won't be the first choice for many of them but many of them won't get their first choice so it's a waiting game and it's unbelievably frustrating and somewhat concerning but if we just go and buy midtable players then nobody should be throwing their toys out of the pram when Moyes can't get us above 12th or whatever this season.

I'd rather wait and deal with the stress of it than get Jack Harrison and Josh Brownhill in and accept defeat.

Other then Forfana the others havnt said they wont come. Barry left a CL team to come here
Well, if they'll come, and we are serious about them, it's only a matter of time before we'll have to stump up. But it seems to me that we can't get players mainly because we are viewed as a big history Coventry City after 30 years of Kenwright.

It isn’t at all.

We have no squad. Keep burying your head in the sand and pretending we’re on track and everything’s fine. Our manager flat out disagrees with you and agrees with me.
If he 'agreed' with you, then where are Harrison, Coufal, Brownhill et al mate? surely he'd have brought them in long before now if he thought that we didn't have a squad at all? :coffee:

I can smell the wee from here now mate, fair play!

We need to get a move on, I think that much is undeniable now. All the 'it'll be fine there's no need to worry' stuff doesn't work when the manager is saying there's a problem and we need to hurry up.

That being said, I think it's a bit simplistic to say it's just because we've been setting our sights too high and if we move a bit down the list it'll all be fine. Surely nobody thinks trying to get Kenny Tete on a free was us setting our sights too high, and yet that's what we did, and he turned us down. Making out like only the very best of the best will be turning us down seems a bit of a leap, it's perfectly plausible that seemingly attainable targets aren't impressed by what they hear, what wages we can offer, what our plans for them are etc. 'I only want players who want to be here' is a great throwaway line, but the reality is loads of players won't particularly want to be here, and not only the elite ones.
