Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

We literally just binned off a load of loanees/out-of-contract players precisely because we deemed them not good enough/too expensive on the books for this new 'era' of the club.... and loads of you are claiming that we should've just gone straight back out in July for crap like-for-likes to 'pad out' the squad and basically undo that anyway

Have you listened to yourselves??
Do you understand that we overpaid for what their role was? Doucoure at over 100kpw was way, way too much. Keane was signed to an extension and I'm pretty sure his wages dropped significantly. He's not making 100kpw any more. DCL was offered a new contract but he wanted to move.

We need squad players at reasonable wages.

I said before it's got to be wages.

Players know that they all cant get European football and if they cant it's best getting in a club that's got profile to put themselves in the window.

We tick the box on that at least.

This all has the whiff of Everton being reluctant to pay the wages demanded.
Can you blame them having just been through what we have? I'd rather we were sensible with our wage structure to be honest.

Not sure why we paid money for a reserve keeper personally. There were plenty of experienced keepers on free transfers this summer. Would rather have given the money as a signing on bonus to a big player to get the ball rolling.
Because clearly at least part of the strategy this summer was to look to the future mate. Think Travers is a cracking little signing personally.

Or not quite paying what clubs are asking, that’s the way I took Moyes interview

No one doubts they are trying hard, but effort is not really the main thing in elite level sport. Everyone at this level is trying and working hard - but it's results that you will be judged on. We are only just over a couple of weeks from when we must register a squad for Leeds. That's when they will ultimately be judged, and they don't seem to have any plan in place right now.
0 plan and 0 idea...... At this moment the Leeds game is going to be a real eye opener for some on here!

Why is Fellows getting such stick? He got loads of assists last season and noone knows how he'd do in the Premier League, yet everyone seems to ridicule him?

Also, I think Hackney at £15m would be decent value. And I reckon the likes of Ivanovic at Millwall and Van Ewijk at Coventry would also do well.
He is slow and like a right-footed McNeil.

When you need 8 or 9 players you need a combination of squad options on loans and frees, plus your more profile signings. There are deals out there we can go and do this week if we want to, and that will help the manager have more time to work with the squad.

Clearly our strategy is failing badly or we wouldn't have the manager so publicly frustrated in interviews.
Amorim was moaning 2 weeks ago about signing it’s nothing out the ordinary for managers to moan

'Reasonable wages' is one thing mate, but if the quality of player isn't at least an improvement on what came before then the club are absolutely right to hold fire and not just buy for buyings sake just because were looking light in July..

Hammond

Most other teams already had a decent sized squad. That's the issue. If we already had that at the beginning of summer lots more people would be happy with the signings so far.

Would you be happy to have numbers in rather than quality? What squad fillers (not first teamers) would you have to fill our squad from the teams around us?

Just having numbers in a squad in the prem these days is no good. You got to have quality throughout otherwise we just promote the u21's /academy players to make the numbers up and make the fans happy.
