Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

the same people now saying we should have gone for easier targets are the same people who would have been kicking up a stink if we’d started the window with Coufal Soucek Longstaff Brownhill Callum Wilson etc.
Wouldn't be opposed to Souček if it meant we brought in some pace at RW and a proper RB.

You look at his stats he's pretty reliable, plays most games, chips in with goals. He's played over 180 games in the league, he could prove to ve a good addition.

I know it was only a friendly vs Bournemouth, but the midfield looked so weak, can't be pinning all our hopes on Gueye. He needs support. If it was Soucek perm deal and Douglas Luiz on loan on deadline day that's at least two extra bodies and improves us greatly.

There’s been a few that are head scratchers. I can understand the complications with Luiz and Fofana for sure, but how we haven’t paid the price for Hackney and AMN yet I don’t know. Would leave us with the rest of the window to focus efforts on the right wing position.

I said before it's got to be wages.

Players know that they all cant get European football and if they cant it's best getting in a club that's got profile to put themselves in the window.

We tick the box on that at least.

This all has the whiff of Everton being reluctant to pay the wages demanded.

When you need 8 or 9 players you need a combination of squad options on loans and frees, plus your more profile signings. There are deals out there we can go and do this week if we want to, and that will help the manager have more time to work with the squad.

Clearly our strategy is failing badly or we wouldn't have the manager so publicly frustrated in interviews.

We literally just binned off a load of loanees/out-of-contract players precisely because we deemed them not good enough/too expensive on the books for this new 'era' of the club.... and loads of you are claiming that we should've just gone straight back out in July for crap like-for-likes to 'pad out' the squad and basically undo that anyway

Have you listened to yourselves??

Why is Fellows getting such stick? He got loads of assists last season and noone knows how he'd do in the Premier League, yet everyone seems to ridicule him?

Also, I think Hackney at £15m would be decent value. And I reckon the likes of Ivanovic at Millwall and Van Ewijk at Coventry would also do well.

Personally, i saw his clips and thought 90% of thoses assits dont happen in the PL.

He looks like a RW McNeil to me and im not a fan of McNeil.

Not sure why we paid money for a reserve keeper personally. There were plenty of experienced keepers on free transfers this summer. Would rather have given the money as a signing on bonus to a big player to get the ball rolling.

…yep, I mean they’re obviously not sitting on their hands and trying to acquire the ones they most want.
No one doubts they are trying hard, but effort is not really the main thing in elite level sport. Everyone at this level is trying and working hard - but it's results that you will be judged on. We are only just over a couple of weeks from when we must register a squad for Leeds. That's when they will ultimately be judged, and they don't seem to have any plan in place right now.

10000%

For the people in the concerned/worried camp - you absolutely cannot tell me that you would've been happy with this scenario either, as much as you have claimed otherwise.

@MikeH72 you're a good example here mate.. your response?

Yes it would’ve made perfect sense to do that. We would’ve actually been able to take a squad of players over to the US, and wouldn’t be 2 injuries away from Tyler Onyango coming on the pitch.

You can throw all the hypotheticals in that you want and say “oh you would’ve said this this and that” but I’m only dealing in facts currently. We are 2 weeks away from the first Premier League game and we have 17 senior players.
