Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

This was Glasner yesterday. Very similar to Moyes. Think a massive part of the issue is managers wanting players (perfectly reasonably) a few weeks before the season but that simply isn’t the deadline. Only the actual deadline forces action not one in the minds of one of the three negotiating parties. Hence why we, they, most of the league are stalling.

This is pretty normal stuff across the board and the only solution is to bring forward the transfer deadline but they tried that and reverted back.
Interesting

To be fair though, not many other teams have done a lot. Many teams around us, like crystal palace, wolves, west ham, Fulham have not done anything really.

Brentford and Bournemouth have(or will) moved a few on.

Probably waiting for the big boys to finish eating at the table so the rest of us can move in and pick up the scraps.
Most other teams already had a decent sized squad. That's the issue. If we already had that at the beginning of summer lots more people would be happy with the signings so far.

I don’t necessarily think it’s a bad thing with Moyes’s comments. Nick Howard is here, as I understand it, to be the player negotiator - at this point in the window players and clubs will no doubt be pushing their luck and asking for fees/ wages above what we think reasonable, therefore if the club are walking away form such deals, good on them. We don’t want to be in the same mess as before.

Sounds as though we’re about to admit defeat in waiting for our top targets, and start moving down the list. Which is a shame, but understandable

Sounds like certain players are just p1ssing us about: Luis/Fofana/Mcatee, we are Everton, none of these no marks are bigger, Koff them off and move onto more realistic targets ie Fellows, Hackney

Proof that it isn't just us and it never is.

With Moyes clear that things are not getting done as quickly as needed I do think Everton could help themselves with a couple of rapid depth additions that improve squad even if they are not core starters e.g. Coufal/Semedo/Calabria/Tomiyasu at RB, Brownhill CM on frees (or Ndidi for <£10m). They are arguably better than our weakest links at those positions as a minimum, improve depth and would not stop us hunting our whales (be it Fofana, Kubo, Grealish, McAtee, Uncle Tom Cobley) deeper into the window. Get them now rather than deadline day so Moyes can work with them.

I feel a bit for Moyes and the whole recruitment team. It’s clear they’ve not been “dithering” or sitting around doing little, they want top quality players and are waiting for those players to give us an answer. What else can you do? Seems as though they’ve waited for as long as they feel they can. I’d much rather they’ve done what they’ve tried and bring in ambitious top signings even if it ultimately fails, then do easy deals early for players of a lesser quality.
I agree. Everyone here wants Everton to make steps forward rather than being happy where we are. That was what Dyche was and most, if not all, hated that. We want to be bigger and better, and we will only do that by targeting and bringing in quality players. The signings we have made so far make me think that the recruitment has a good eye when it comes to quality so I trust their choices when we do get players over the line. This is a test on some ways for them though, when they've been rebuffed and have to potentially go for backup plans...how will they cope.
