Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

the debacle was having so many players out of contract at the same time. Some of us were warning about zero continuity planning way in advance.
This regime has a mess to fix and it’ll take quite a few windows to do so.

The squad is threadbare but the team for Leeds on 18th Aug should be as least as good as the one that finished the season so effectively under Moyes. The window closes on 1st September and I expect we’ll be doing plenty of business up to that date.

So far, so good.

I don't really buy this idea anymore. Out of contract players we lost that were actually involved in the first team?

Virginia = replaced
Dom = replaced
Doucoure = not replaced
Young = replaced

We're basically one signing from net neutral with the OOC players.

It's just squad fluff we've lost like the loanees that added nothing to us.

We haven’t improved the starting XI at all from last season. We have no right wingers at the club, we have one midfielder who’s up to the required standard and he’s 36. We have no right backs fit for purpose and are having to shoehorn a centre back in there (well he’s actually needed at CB because our other two are both injured).

We need 5 more players.
We will get them, there is still a month of the window to go.

It can go both ways. I think we should have got more in by now, especially at RW, but I won't panic until the Leeds game. If we haven't made a significant stride in the market by then that's a red flag.

Very much not actually.

We have 2 weeks to register players for the first game. We’ve got 1 friendly to go when we get back from the States. The season starts on the 18th August, not the 2nd September.
See edited post. I agree and disagree. The window is still open after that first game. It's not ideal, and I'd rather players are in before then, which I expect to happen, but we still have a further two weeks to add to the squad and make sure we are in a good place. It's a long season.

Ahhh… and the apologists ain’t done making excuses as they shift the goalposts once more…

“A month of the window to go” is now the new “we have three weeks before the start of the season”
They have given up any pretence of having a squad fit and ready for the start of the season. Those early dropped points are the difference between perhaps finishing in the top half of the league, and ensuring safely with a few weeks to go.

Unacceptable.
