Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Technically we have though, firstly the masses can breathe a sigh of relief that Doucoure isn't ruining midfield anymore (although the cost of his missing physicality is about to land like a lump hammer). Alcaraz has been made permanent. Broja, Lindstrom are no more, we didn't get a ton out of Harrison, and really only Mangala we got accustomed to relying on. It's a shame he got an ACL because the recovery rate is so poor.
Moyes came in and put O'Brien RB and suddenly that back 5 improved by light years.
It's telling that Tete was looking like the first summer signing but we have missed him and now it's LB that has been improved first. Spent big money on a forward who I expect will rotate games with Beto if he stays.
Although RW has been the obvious missing piece for some while, it's CM that's frightening me most now, we can cobble a right sider somehow out of what we have but we've so little left in the middle. Ndidi Gana locking the midfield down could be a goer, but that'd rely on very good passing from the fullbacks to bypass CM and get the wide forwards involved.

Even if we get a CM and RM specialist in, we're only a couple of injuries away from being bang in trouble. We all know our luck. We're all praying Tarkowski is fit and well for season start. It's unlikely.

Maybe Moyes works a couple of miracles with loans.
‘Landing like a lump hammer ‘ neatly describes Doucoures first touch and passing ability in one .

If only my loquaciousness was football ability, I could strut my funky stuff professionally, maybe.

We're going to need a hatchet man for when the bigger sides kick our smaller players. Relying on the back line is a one way ticket to many suspensions.

Have you thought about why on earth that would ever be a thing?
I guess it is a player welfare aspect, where come FT of the last game they are not out on their ear. I suspect an aspect of 'good faith' was negotiated into the agreement where players weren't frightened to play their final game and so didn't cry off with fake injury out of fear for being financially in peril if they were to get injured in that final game. For instance. Of course this is a multidivisional stipulation, that applies to all professionals in the game under the FA. So although the idea of financial peril may not apply to a veteran of multiple seasons in the PL, care is afforded by contract to players having earned far far less further down the divisions. I'm no legal expert, I can barely tie my laces.

Still have this horrible, horrible feeling he'll be back in a panic signing a la Pistone, if we don't get a move on.

As it stands we have Alcaraz and Armstrong that can play behind the striker.

I think when we eventually get wide players signed, N'diaye will also be utilised in this role more too.

But if we do a modern everton and don't get the players we need in time for the start of the season and N'diaye and McNeil are our only real options on the wing at the start of the season.

I still don't think moyes or anyone in the recruitment team will think we should get doucoure back in.

famous last words I know.

Not a chance Armstrong is still here after August, IMO.

The squad is shaping up nicely. Up to 21 players now, with Branthwaite on a long term deal, and I'm sure we will sign at least a couple more in the next couple of weeks.

In particular, I'm looking forward to seeing who we bring in on the right and in central midfield. We have been approaching the right kind of players, which is encouraging.

you seem like an optimist, I think you are at the wrong place. Try down the hall to the right.
