Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

This is why we’re not getting any of the following players as things stand:

Dougie Luiz - on big wages - Juventus won’t accept dry loan / so mandatory fee is €38m after 12mths

Malick Fofana - Lyon wants €40m+ but it’s not the fee it’s his agents Roc Nation wanting him to join a bigger club and the hard place we’re not in Europe let along UCL.

Takefusa Kubo - Sociedad don’t want to sell and but if they did would want close to his €60m release clause as Real Madrid get 50% sell on of any profit.

So what can change then if thats as things stand?

Is this your opinion or are you stating a fact?

Also as with regards to kubo. I hate it when teams get player with 50% sell on and wont sell them because of the 50% sell on or demand some crazy price for them.

The whole reason they got him that cheap to begin with is the 50% sell on. Then when it come to sell him, all of a sudden they want his release clause.

This logic is a bit warped. Do you not rate Gibbs-White either? Because it was only us and Forest in for him at the time. What about Eze, it was only Palace and West Ham in for him at the time I think?
No I just don't see the Mcatee hype that's all, the other players you mention all had/have something about them. If he does sign then hopefully it works out for us but I'm not convinced that's all it is.

Approx £30m gets McAtee - he would be keen to join us according to reports but it’s whether we stump up the cash to get him.

Forest being in Europe might be a bigger draw ..
If he wants to spend the rest of his career making hostage videos thanking Mr Marinakis just for the sake of a few extra nights’ work against Az Alkmaar or Braga then he’s being badly advised.

So James McAtee doesn’t have anything about him. Noted for future reference.
Note whatever you want mate, but I don't think we should be paying near £40m for this player. Get that fee down a fair bit and there might be a deal to be had in some capacity. Its not a case of not having anything about him (I actually said that I don't get the hype) he is hardly Patterson levels of bad or that status. Its about the deal here for me.
