Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Douglas Luiz wants to join but Everton now haggling over the terms with his current club.

Jesus Christ, you couldn’t make this up.

We make it so torturously hard. No wonder we are struggling to get deals done.

It’s all very well playing hard ball but when you are desperate for numbers you can’t really do that.
Nah. Do you not remember Moshiri and the points deductions? We need to be smart with the money. I know the Friedkins are doing deals and shenanigans to make sure PSR isn't an issue anymore but that doesn't mean you can still spaff money up the walls.

I`m not sure I see Luiz, Grealish and Fofana all landing at Everton.

Don`t get me wrong I would love that but there is a reason Moyes came out and said players are rejecting us.

It depends on how you read it

“We’ve been in for a lot of really good players. Unfortunately, a lot them have said no at the moment.”

Those last three words feel like they could be important , especially if he means as many suggest some players are waiting for CL clubs . If they don’t turn up then things might be very different .

Well tbf that’s got sweet fa to do with us.

But yeah we dont seem to be able to get things done quickly on the ones where there’s a decent chance someone comes in to his agent in the interim.

Bobble now tweeting about a departing Executive.

Shows how dire the transfer window has been if he’s forced to update his followers with trivial events.

What next? Confirmation that the fan plaza has been jet washed?

It’s frustrating for sure but if we get him and it’s a success then it’d be all worth it wouldn’t it ?

Leeds tied up the Longstaff deal fairly quickly but if this one comes off we’ve likely done better despite having a prolonged negotiations .
Do t think you were following that transfer mate, Leeds took over a month to get it sorted

Even so, if we paid a £10m loan fee and 50% of his wages that will cost us £20m for just one season. Can`t see City letting him go and having top fork out the best part of £200k per week, by the same token I don`t see Everton offering north of £100k per week which is 28.5% of his current salary.

Whilst he has that big contract at City I cant see him taking a 70% pay cut, can you.
City are not going to want to pick-up his full wages for the next 2 years when he is surplus to requirements, there could be some kind of deal with add-ons, i.e. fee increases with appearances/goals/assists or European qualification etc. Loan fee and wages would have to cover at least half his wages I'd say to have any chance. £5m loan fee and £100K per week would more than do this and then some additional add-ons, from City's point of view he is costing money so anything to offset is better and if he plays well at Everton someone may buy him next summer. If there is more than us in for him then of course the price goes up.

Disagree, overpaying just solves one problem by creating a bigger, longer-term, one.

Have we learned nothing from Moshiri's mistakes?

As much as we need signings if they came at this literal "price" then I'd rather not.

The focus has to be on players we can attract, at wages/fees we can afford, sustainably.

Everyone knows how it ends otherwise. Surely us more than anyone.
