Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

You need these players.

You need a squad, you need versatility.

If we can get him on a low fee it will be decent business.

Those stats fail to show number of errors or defensive lapses as well so in isolation mean little when we know that's Patterson's biggest issue. They only show things completed for not ones where he's scratching his head out of position.

It was more to point out that AMNs stats don't stand out. They show what he is, a squad player. We need a first team quality RB, not more filler. If he was 21 I'd be more inclined to go for it as there is more upside to discover but he's 27, 28 in a month. He's already at his peak.

You do, but we have multiple options for RB. It's a position we need first team quality in rather than squad filling.
I agree but fact that we're interested in him tells me that there isn't anything on the market we fancy.

Coleman and Patterson for one reason or another arnt fit for purpose so this strikes me as a stop gap till we identify someone who is the long term successor.

I think he's like for like for Patterson...who I believe will be shipped out.

Thing is I think he is a first team quality for a team whose aim is say the conference league or last euro league spot

I think it shows that the Friedkins and Textor have a relationship of sorts. I heard Textor speaking about the Friedkins before and that they were in contact during the takeover stuff and were on friendly terms. The deals we did last summer with O'Brien and Mangala and now Fofana and AMN this summer make me feel like we could see more deals with Textor clubs in the future. I hope not but I wouldn't be surprised.

I'd be fine with him for a few seasons mate, he's a decent fight back.
I'll give him a season.

Once this new and improved scouting and recruitment team are through the door you'll probably see a more well throughout, strategic approach to our transfers.

At the minute it's Moyes leading it which isn't ideal, he's probably more concerned with just getting some decent quality and numbers through the door.

Another thing mate to factor in, our recruitment by all looks if it is focusing primarily on young players, currently on our side we have a few veteran experiences pros, Coleman - glorified coach by now, Gueye whose 36 soon and Tarks whose 33 and all in their last year. If we are trying to turn over the squad then yeah we will need some players more experienced than 19-22yo lads

Whilst I agree that we need quality I would suggest that the "multiple options" that you talk about at RB are a well past it permanently injured club legend, a guy who has proven time after time that he can't defend and cut it at this level and a CH.

AMN whilst not my first choice would instantly be a better option than any of those 3.

I agree that the depth we have at RB have their problems, but that leads to another point which is that the club did bad business this summer in regards to the RB position. We shouldn't have given Coleman a new contract, we should let Patterson go and we should have been looking at signing 2 RBs - one starter and one backup. As it is though, we are in a position where we *should* have enough cover that the player we are targeting should be proper standout first team quality, rather than just a squad player type.
