Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

100%, the issue is he’s a known quantity because people have seen him play at Arsenal and people know he isn’t going to come in and develop into prime Coleman. He’s a decent experienced player who gives us much needed cover. He’s a much higher level player than all of our current rights backs, he’s a better player than Myko and he’s probably better in midfield than Garner. Some of the 8/9 players we need need to be solid budget players who can do a job in a few positions.
The good old fashioned ultility player.

Dont see many these days.

I have no view on this lad, I dont recall ever watching him play, im sure I have, many times, but, you know.

They bought him for £35m.

No one apart from Sunderland wanted him otherwise he would of gone there. same way were waiting on players to come to us because they have options their waiting to find out about.

What would i expect for a 30 year old with a year left on their contract? That depends.

In this market with a world beater like xhaka? Surely more then £20m, no? How much did Liverpool get for Henderson or firminho? And they were both finished.
Unsure where you are getting your figures from.... everything is suggesting GBP 30mil they bought him for or EUR 35mil.

Oh I forgot to add in the earlier post that there was the small matter of Arsenal buying Declan Rice 12 days after selling Xhaka.

never said Xhaka was a world beater, but damn sure he would walk into our team... in fact he would hop, skip and jump straight into our team.... have you seen our midfield?

Firmino went on a free and Henderson went for 12mil GBP at the age of 33. Unsure what your point is with that.

I mean, I can't tell if you are being sarcastic mate, but yes that is the key. Newcastle have mostly signed safe PL players for hefty fees, but still managed to get Guimarães, Isak and Tonali when the club wasn't all that.

We will be rejected by loads of good players, but we need to get a couple in. Ones that would consider coming are out there. We cannot just settle for average players. Fine to get some in, of course, given our lack of numbers. But we need a couple of players that signal intent moving forward.
No im not mate , its exactly what we need . The ball has to start rolling somewhere

Absolutely this

Just finished work and had tea, thought I might catch up on what I missed since yesterday but Jeeezzzzz that is alot.

What have I missed other than Aznou close and everyone else turning us down?

Nothing wrong with being ambitious but people saying Maitland Niles would not improve us need a reality check.
The Maitland Niles I saw playing in England wouldn’t improve us other than in the sense he’d beef the squad up. Somebody has posted some interesting stuff which suggests he may have improved over his 2 years at Lyon which would change my opinion, but let’s not make out the lad would be a clear improvement based on his form in this league, he just wouldn’t.
