Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

As they havent signed him yet, hes the same as Aznou. If I included Aznou on any signed players list for us I would never hear the end of it on here.

And Im not even saying the young players wont be good business in the long term, but youth and inexperience dont help you survive your first PL season. It does not help Sunderland if they are great in year 2 and 3. They need them to be great week 1.
I just took the post at face value, it said they'd spent £130m on 7 players and listed Xhaka, I assumed that was now a done deal on that basis.

I mean, some of them might indeed pan out, but on paper its not that impressive. I like young players, but you have two 20 year olds from the belgian league. Expecting ANY real contribution from that massive jump up(at their age) is very optimistic. Mandava hasnt been a starter for years. Adingra and Diarra are probably the competent ones they got, and I think theyd need at least 3 more GOOD signings to chance staying up.
Not staying up for me

I had this idea in my head years ago that Xhaka was this very average and overrated midfield player. Then saw him play a game live for Switzerland and he was the best player on the pitch by a mile. Absolutely ran the game. Mind you, that was probably a good while ago now, but I still think he's a good player.

Still wouldn't sign him for 15m or whatever aged 33. But he will do well there at least this season.
