Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Didn’t “Bobble” say we’d offered him one and he rejected it?

I don't know in his case, but certainly in a wider sense there's a bit of a grey area as to what you would class as an 'offer', both in terms of bids to clubs and contracts for players. You might verbally outline your intention to give someone a new contract at X amount a week for Y years but if they say I have no interest in signing that then you wouldn't go to the hassle of actually formalising an offer. It may be that the club consider that an offer was made because they told him what was on the table but he doesn't consider it a contract offer because he wasn't interested in what was being proposed.

For all we joke about 'mulling' and 'preparing' and 'considering preparing' etc, there is actually some logic to using those terms because there's more to making an offer than just plucking a figure out of thin air and offering it over the phone.

Ashley even called him out at the time. I don’t remember Bobble hat ever backing down either…

….can’t compare him to Doucoure, so I’d take him out of that question.

He’s certainly not £100m better than Harrison/Lindstrom or £250k per week better than them. He generally stands his opponent up before then going past, always think that makes it difficult for a striker to time a run into space, I also don’t think he’s particularly fast or offers goalscoring threat.

Never been a fan of his, just think we can get better for cheaper.
We already did. NDiaye is a much better player.
