Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

When you take a step back and reflect on everything from the past few days —

Transfers happening (Aznou), bids going in (Fofana), Moyes finally speaking publicly after weeks of silence, and rumours suggesting this week will be the start of real movement — it all feels… choreographed.

Not necessarily planned in a strict sense, but I’d be fairly confident the club has told several of our targets that we need answers by the start of August or we’ll move on. Everything mentioned above seems to align with that kind of deadline.

Here’s hoping anyway.

Choreographed a little and depressingly familiar a lot. I thought it was strange the Kinnear interview and Fofana interest breaking at the same time.

I get that Kinnear's interview in large part would have been done with the aim of providing some re-assurance to restless fans.
I'd accept at this point leaving most of the signings to the end of the window if we were guaranteed them. It comes with a lot of risk.

But then you had Moyes wading in, and whilst we all agree with him, I don't think it adds anything to our attempt to progress. It sounds despairing and potentially points to discord.

Most people have pretty modest expectations. There is concern that this is just more of the same. As a fanbase we are too quick to excuse and justify when those same modest expectations aren't being met. There is an element of the joy being sucked out of things yet again when it began as a summer of so much promise.

Warms the heart when I see fans clock this stuff.

He would instantly be our best midfielder. Have you seen the utter garbage we have there?
Oh i agree we have tat in there but i think he really is bang average and we could do a lot better.

He scores the odd goal but ive never ever seen him dominate the midfield.
He is not for me personally

Never take it as 100% wouldnt say discord because is a number reasons why deals dont happen. Player/ club wants more money than what the club have ect. To me all feels on same side and all frustrated nore deals havent been made, but is clear all working on it. I would have wanted more key area signings in now but hasnt happens. Still think this week will get another deal done cm/ or out wide imo

Hackney is very much a #8. His strength is getting the ball and moving it forwards - passing or driving in possession. Basically the bit our midfield struggle with currently.

His stats show him paying more from deep positions, mush better on the ball.....more a deep play maker, rather than a defensive midfielder 6.
