Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Good post. Agree about the time left in the window. Would prefer the deadline was 1 August tbh as everyone would do basically the same business but without weeks of messing about. But it is what it is.

I don’t think we’re in AS bad a shape as some are making out. Three weeks to Leeds and for me the big non negotiable is a RW in by then. A lot of other stuff will go to the wire under the circumstances.

But assuming Aznou is now done and we get our CBs back, if we add a RW in I think we should have a team for the first game that’s better than the one that finished the season strong plus, for all the squad size issues, potentially a bench of:

Travers, Patterson, Keane, Aznou, Tim, Armstrong, McNeil, Barry, Chermiti

Not perfect and ideally towards the end of the window a couple to go on loan and be replaced but cover for all positions and no need for a second keeper or academy kids.

Ideally we do more before then of course but as a bare minimum a decent RW in the next three weeks should see us put up a competitive squad.
I think we also need a RB in before Leeds. If Branthwaite and/or Tarkowski are still injured by the Leeds game we'll be playing one or both of Keane and Patterson and playing either of them on day dot would be, in my opinion at least, a huge failure of recruitment.

Beto has obviously done well last season but I’’ll be amazed if the club splashed 30 mill and convinced Barry to turn down Cl football to come and sit on the bench. As soon as Barry is up to full fitness and getting considerable pre season time I think he’ll be straight in if not immediately then very soon. Moyes seemed impressed by his first cameo, speaking more positively over those few minutes than he ever has about Beto really.

I feel like Douglas Luiz will come and immediately get injured after slide tackling and injuring Fofana. Then we will have to play Jarrad as a winger and we will get injured tackling their centerback and we will be relegated.

Just a gut feeling.

I’m resigned to the fact that no matter how many players we buy they’ll all be injured for both derbies. It was absolutely typical last season that Ndiaye got crocked v Liverpool at home and then returned the game after Anfield.

Yup I’d say RB and then CM are next down the list from RW. Just that RW is the one thing DEFINITELY needed to have a functioning team come Leeds.

Suspect we will get a RB done in that time as well as we’re probably shopping in a similar sort of market to Aznou. Sounds like for the final couple of bits of quality elsewhere we may go beyond the first game of the season and closer to the deadline to get the standard we want.

Agree but we deffo need a CM in before Leeds mate, and depending on Tarks and Branthwaites injuries another RB as can't be having Patterson playing there

My sauces are telling me that Nick Hammond and his team have been on the blower all morning with Manchester City, Juventus & Olympique Lyonnais thrashing out official bids and payment terms with 3-4 players being discussed.

No plans to speak to WBA or Real Sociedad as things stand

Kuba
Fellows
Soucek
McAtee
Aznou

Be very happy with that.

Must admit I'm not struck on fellows, got the feeling he'd be a bit slow on the wing in this league, also seems a bit of a one trick pony - limited viewing caveat.

Soucek is just worry that west ham will want silly money for his age, plus he's best as a more attacking mid and we badly need someone to be able to sit and dictate
