Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

It's always hard to judge the Italian press. Absolute dirt for gossip but then they do sometimes have the inside track on potential deals like this. I remember the Allan speculation being pushed from the Italian side when no one was really arsed in the British press, and we did eventually sign him.

It's a waiting game right now. We won't know.

I think Luiz will come, I do t think he'd have burnt his bridges so completely unless he's already agreed with a club a move. Think it's about forcing Juve to accept the terms we offered now

I mean, I can't tell if you are being sarcastic mate, but yes that is the key. Newcastle have mostly signed safe PL players for hefty fees, but still managed to get Guimarães, Isak and Tonali when the club wasn't all that.

We will be rejected by loads of good players, but we need to get a couple in. Ones that would consider coming are out there. We cannot just settle for average players. Fine to get some in, of course, given our lack of numbers. But we need a couple of players that signal intent moving forward.
Newcastle are owned by the biggest sovereign wealth fund in the world. We are owned by a bunch of car salesman. There is a bit of a difference.

It might do a little bit. I think we'll probably see more of O'Brien in that RB/CB role next season – which I've got no problem with.

What will be different is that the system Moyes brought in last season will be more effective going forwards. We needed a decent attacking LB on the other side, which we know Myko is not. Hopefully Aznou has more about him in the final third.

I think we'll look to do the same on the other side depending on who we play too, with Myko being the defensive full back/centre back and [insert new attacking RB here] being the progressive one. I doubt we'll see two attacking full backs on the pitch at the same time, unless we were losing.
Tbf in the short term on this tour we might be able to play him left wing as well just for rotation options as the team noticeably flagged in the heat second half v Bournemouth

I think that's very closely and directly linked to our massive failings in recruitment

I've been asking for many years now to focus on the attacking third of the pitch and we haven't done that. We don't score goals because we have not prioritised signing attacking players with quality. It has always been midfielders and defenders and it has been extremely frustrating to me.

A lack of goals means a relegation battle is always a possibility.
You’re so right. All of our competitors are just signing 20 goal a season attackers for buttons whereas we just sit on our hands because we love not scoring.

Its like moyes said players are waiting for bigger clubs to come in for them.

Maybe its gotten to the point where hes realised there not coming so has agreed to come to us?
There's a combination of that plus not wanting to overpay.

Balancing act. We may not get him, but he's the sort of player who would make a big difference to our level

Don't agree with this at all tbh mate.

Attacking player are more expensive and we've had no money for years along with being a pretty grim proposition for a player.

Elanga, Gyokeres, etc - we've been trying to sign attacking players as much as any other area, but nobody would join us and even if they would, we couldn't afford them because we've been living on the breadline
