Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Doesn't solve our problems but get him on a plane to the US pronto
It might do a little bit. I think we'll probably see more of O'Brien in that RB/CB role next season – which I've got no problem with.

What will be different is that the system Moyes brought in last season will be more effective going forwards. We needed a decent attacking LB on the other side, which we know Myko is not. Hopefully Aznou has more about him in the final third.

I think we'll look to do the same on the other side depending on who we play too, with Myko being the defensive full back/centre back and [insert new attacking RB here] being the progressive one. I doubt we'll see two attacking full backs on the pitch at the same time, unless we were losing.

Disagree. We are so far behind other sides at the moment and the gap just gets bigger and bigger. We need to turbocharge things a bit. Signing mid-level dross and nothing else, keeps you there at best and probably actually moves you backwards. You then get stuck with players no-one else really wants- that's been our issue for years. We need to find a way of getting some actual quality into the squad.
We do mate - but these things take time and it's a simple as that. There's no magic wand.

Just a difference of opinion mate, and yeah Dyche messed up badly when he refused to do subs that game and the midfield locked dead on its feet, problem became I think it exposed a weakness in him that he can drift off on concentration/focus highlighted when he was tired.

Hope I'm wrong - won't be the first or last - just my feeling about him.

No, lots of people have said it but the stats dont back that up.

Hes young and he needs games but loaning him out to the championship isnt going to help him. He already had a good loan spell at qpr and hes played well in European games for villa.

Hes a PL level player imo and theres no one in our side who can travle with the ball like he can but you cant play him along side gana it just leaves the midfield too exposed

There's a big difference between our 20th choice and first choice

We should certainly have at least 5 or 6 options at each position though and we are clearly at the point of the summer where we need to turn to other more realistic targets. We need a mixture of squad players and starters so there is no reason not to bring at least 2 or 3 in and then we can wait on others. We can't wait on 6 or 7 signings though, that makes no sense.
What if none of the other options are available at the moment either? It’s Catch 22. We want be buy good players now, but good players don’t want to move to us now, they want to assess all of their options, we therefore either have to be patient or buy average players that no one else wants.

They've been saying this for a month.
It's always hard to judge the Italian press. Absolute dirt for gossip but then they do sometimes have the inside track on potential deals like this. I remember the Allan speculation being pushed from the Italian side when no one was really arsed in the British press, and we did eventually sign him.

It's a waiting game right now. We won't know.

I am grasping to the hope that we are aiming for players that will elevate us and which need persuading rather than signing available players who are at our current level. Hopefully that is the central cause of the delay. I just hope that when it comes to the final dance that soe decent ones are left and we get lucky.

We don’t score a lot of goals either. Is that a deliberate strategy or just the way stuff goes?
I think that's very closely and directly linked to our massive failings in recruitment

I've been asking for many years now to focus on the attacking third of the pitch and we haven't done that. We don't score goals because we have not prioritised signing attacking players with quality. It has always been midfielders and defenders and it has been extremely frustrating to me.

A lack of goals means a relegation battle is always a possibility.
