Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Moyes also said they're saying 'no at the moment' – which you could read as that they're waiting for other offers. Better that than 'I said no, stop calling me you freaks'.
Exactly. Whether we like it or not everyone will take their time. Deadlines focus minds so unfortunately the answers we want may come late.

I don’t think Moyes is daft either “a lot of good players have said no at the moment” tells those good players having a think that there are other alternatives doing the same and maybe not to think too long.

Don’t be coming to me for your fix of spurious rumours, mate. I reckon Fofana gets done, personally. I fancy a trademark Moyes Championship youngster and all - The lad from Boro, maybe.

That’s your lot, though. I’m cutting you off. Cold turkey until you can admit to the monster you’ve become.

I’m going for Aznou and nobody else this week mate.

Moyes success last time was bringing in the best players from the championship. May have to be the same again this time round.
You should check his transfer record back then. You might be surprised how few players he brought from Championship.

Championship: Lescott, Jagielka, Cahill, Stones, Kilbane, Bent
Premier League: Yakubu, Johnson, Baines, Distin, Neville, Howard, Martyn, Gibson, Saha
JPL: Fellaini
Super League 1 (Greece): Mirallas
Ligue 1: Yobo
La Liga: Arteta
Bundesliga: Pienaar
Irish Premier League: Coleman

Those should be most of the important signings he made then.

To be fair to Brighton, their approach means they actually could now afford to go out and buy a number of top quality players that could help them compete at the highest level.

Over the past 3-4 seasons they have made literally hundreds of millions in profits on player sale by pursuing their 'find a young gem' philosophy.
But, their strategy seems to be to make money on developing players rather than becoming a big club.

At least clubs like Everton , Forest, Spurs have ambitions to be winning trophies in the future and being top four clubs in the league.

Wheres this rhetoric that Iroegbunam isnt good enough. He was one of our best players at the start of last season.

Hes only just turned 22 last month and i think hes fine as a option as he improves

He had a decent run of 5-6 games coinciding with us being absolutely dreadful, and every other time looked lost positionally.

And it's not rhetoric - it's watching a player who has no sense of awareness defensively and is not focused on what's around him. Soon as mangala came on we looked way better as we did when garner came in for mangala when he got crocked.

I disagree. We can't go from relegation battlers to attracting superstars in such a short period. Moyes will bring a couple of seasons of stability, with decent level players coming in. Push us to mid table regulars. We move on from there. We'll improve in stages.
Couldn’t have put it better myself.

The amount of people expecting us to shoot up the table overnight is baffling.

We remember a couple of those signings more with the impact Cahill and Jags made I suppose , plus Stones and Lescott made us a few quid.

So from your figure bought from English football it’s a 50/50 split between PL/FL . Don’t you think that’s a bigger percentage than the vast majority of managers?

Feel pretty championship heavy that .

I never said anything about superstars. No chance we getting anyone of that calibre. But some squad players should have been through the door by now given the scale of the job in hand. We are potentially playing Keane and Patterson in our opening fixture.

These new overlords shouldn’t be getting a free pass because of the previous incompetents.

People need to get away from the idea that just because things don't work out exactly the way we want it is evidence of incompetence. The transfer market is competitive, selling clubs and the players targeted all have their own set of interests and there is nothing we can do to force the issue other than paying over the odds. We aren't the prettiest girl at the dance so no matter how good our moves are we need a bit of luck to succeed. We might have been incompetent but no one has any evidence that's the

Time will tell. But history backs up my statement that this has all the hallmarks of incompetence. And you know it to deep down.
