2024/25 Nathan Patterson

Sad but true mate. Seems a lot of fans are delighted when he cocks up. Often he hasn’t helped himself, but it’s over the top.

Other players can make mistakes and nothing is said at all, even though all players make mistakes.

Young made some horrendous mistakes and cost us goals but people were acting like he was the second coming of Cafu.

Keane has thrown away goals and points but people were happy we re-signed him
even though we all know he’s a total shithouse car crash awful cb.

Patterson is criticised and piled on every single appearance, even when he hasn’t had a bad game.

Best for him and Everton if he moves on now imo, let’s try for another specialist rb. Get aznou over the line and at least there’s another option in the meantime.

Both Keane and Young have had constant dogs abuse in most of their time here.

The second coming of Cafu? 😆😆

Perfect summary NathDogg. I mean O'Brien made a bigger cock up but little is said about that. Shame with Patterson as he looked decent under Lampard until his injury on international duty but like you say its probably best he moves on for a fresh start and fresh fans opinions

The idea that the stick Patterson gets is worse than the likes of Keane, young, Harrison, holgate, DCL etc have got in recent years is absolutely mad. It’s like 1 or 2 posters were slagging him off for non footballing reasons a while ago and ever since every time anyone says ‘I’m not sure he’s very good’ 14000 posters jump to his defence saying he’s getting picked on, it’s weird.

See my post above yours.

No hate for the lad but he's been here three years and arguably looks worse than when he first arrived.

Part of our issue has always been carrying players thinking they will one day come good, the lads shown practically nothing in his time here except a propensity to pick up injuries and repeat the same errors.

He's young enough and his book value is low enough now that hopefully we can get someone to shell out 5-7m for him

I’m not sure ‘yeah but they deserve it’ is a great rebuttal of the point and that’s effectively what your post amounts to.
Can you not read? Have you actually read my other posts? My post does not amount that at all…..

I haven’t said Patterson doesn’t deserve criticism once mate, which is justified after mistakes or poor performances, it’s a part of the game.

All players make mistakes and can expect stick, especially multiple offenders like Keane and Young.

However, as I said before, they seem to be forgiven and forgotten about much easier and quicker than Pattersons treatment imo - there’s a subtle difference, that it seems you may have missed.

Anyway, I think we all agree it’s time for him to leave Everton now, especially after the pile on he’s had for a mistake in a friendly pre season game.

Sigh. Whatever happened to getting behind the players and supporting them?

….this isn’t RAWK, a happy slappy chat room where all our players are the best in the world, it’s an Everton forum where we can express opinions on players.

It’s an absolutely nonsense statement you make because all of us want Patterson to do well, I’d be chuffed if the penny drops and he suddenly looks good enough but until that happens we chat about his weaknesses rather than cover them up.

Thought it was interesting that Moyes had Patterson as the right centre back and Garner as the wing back when Patterson is the better attacker and Garner the better defender. I expect height had something to do with it but also felt a bit like a test for Patterson.

Yes I can read mate. Can you? Your post said they get deserved criticism but then everyone forgives then, I paraphrased it but the meaning is very much the same. Just as an easy comparison, Jack Harrison had people - including you, shockingly - claiming he’s not even a championship player all season (despite spending 5 consecutive years in the PL being regularly picked by about half a dozen different managers), he is still the butt of every joke in the transfer thread, he’s the bogeyman used to say how bad things could be, saying that everyone’s forgotten his shortcomings in a way that doesn’t happen for Patterson is an incredibly blinkered view.

As I’ve said before, I doubt there is a player in Everton’s history who has done as little over 3 years as he has but would still have people riding in to defend him every time someone says he did something wrong, it’s genuinely odd.

You dont have to say no hate just because you have an opinion. This is what ruined the calvert lewin thread.
Patterson is 24 so he's not a kid anymore and he's approaching 60 games in his career. Thats always a bit of a red flag to me. Some managers are clearly not fancying him.
Like to see him do well as he seems to have a good attitude and we clearly need that position filled but theres no point in hiding from he's been here 3 years and not grabbed that position yet.

He's just a player a bit like Tim as well btw who you look at and think he has everything you need from a technical and physical POV, but harder to measure stuff like footballing IQ and the ability to learn from mistakes etc.
