2024/25 David Moyes

Itls not though. Itls where we're supposed to be sharpening up for a tough season ahead and we look ragged and threadbare.

Anyone unconcerned about where we are right now in terms of strength aren't giving this too much thought.
The training is energy sapping as is the weather over there. Its not an accurate reflection of how the season will start. We've gone over there and done some of the usual PR and the actual games are just a little run out for the players to get some football minutes into their legs. If we're this threadbare at the end of the transfer window I'll share your concerns my friend. But until then I'll be patient and wait for us to sign some good players (Aznou seems one) and not demand us buy any old player just to show the media etc that we're active in the transfer market

If we get in another 4 we'll be way understrength.

We require 6 more quality signings to be be competitive this season.

No-one is arguing with you there Davek but isn't it better to be patient and get the right profile of player then to just lash money on players in a panic and end up a mess again like that Koeman transfer window when we seemed to buy a new player each day without any coerrent plan?

we’re has he moaned? he’s said what we know we need

and he’s getting backed/ support
from TFG
I agree he has been backed and he deserves to be. Maybe moaning was a bit strong. Remarks like "the supporters can see we need players and even" we need 9 or 10 players." Yes the supporters can see this but so can he and its his job to replace them. I thought we would have signed a couple more by now and i can remember so many slow starts under moyes coz the squad wasnt ready or fit enough because players had been brought in late in the window. I just dont want it happening again.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, chaps. I just don't think Moyes should be talking like this in public because, even if we do buy another 7 players, he is going to have to rely on the existing squad to a large extent. Going around telling everyone how crap they all are (even if it is true) hardly sets the right tone.

Whilst he does have some influence over the composition of the group, surely his job is to get the best out of whatever set of professional footballers he is asked to work with ...
Agreed mate. But he is pointing out that we need both more quality and quantity. That should reassure the "survivors" that the cavalry are on the way , and competition is good.

Based on experience of Everton I have no faith in them getting the right players in or enough of them.

And I'm in the majority on that.

New footballing people in charge with good reputations in the game so I think its only fair to give them a chance first before bashing them. I remember Thelwell got criticised on here constantly but in the end many saw the good work he did and were sad to see him go

I dont know what's good about them. All the talk about them not officially starting yet is bollocks. They can do that unofficially but they've been left in the starting stalls.

Who knows what's going on behind the scenes. I think possibly the biggest reason why we've been slow in our business is because there might be a conflict in ideas between Moyes who wants experienced players and the likes of Kinnear, Hammond and the transfer people who want young players to mould a team for the future with. That's my main worry is whether they're all on the same page regarding strategy going forward
