But claiming every attack breaks down through him is just plain incorrect. The last few years we've had a plethora of players who excel at giving the ball away in attacking situations.

Mykolenko gets judged extra harshly because of our recent LB history:

Myko 110 PL games, 4 goals, 2 assists
Digne 113, 4, 18
Baines 420, 39, 64

There may never be another Baines but Digne level of production would make a big difference to us. Myko’s assist numbers are pretty awful.

Oh for sure, he's not the only one. I was exaggerating. But it's a very easy upgrade to get someone better on the ball. There aren't many fullbacks in the league who are worse on the ball.

It's not even just assists. It's the fact he passes forward so infrequently. NDiaye get no quick service and its easy to double up on him

Our defense is good imo. Good enough for Europe if we improve in attacking areas.

Right wing and a strong attacking midfield\ box to box player will improve us far more than replacing O’Brien or Myko where we are more likely to become worse defensively, imo.

Very difficult to judge until we play more progressively.

Attack minded left - back who is susceptible defensively especially with balls over the top. He could play under the perfect manager in Moyes to sort those issues out.

I felt once Moyes came in last season, our defence was pressing and pushing up higher on the pitch from the start. What we’re seeing in preseason has a lot to do with not having Jake, Tarkowski, and Branthwaite on the pitch at the same time.
