Transfer Rumour Malick Fofana

Bobble put out message last night saying Romano knew more about the deal than he was letting on.

Agents and Lyon where playing games with the help of Romano, who subsequently broke it first.
I think that's more a problem of people taking every word as gospel. When things are said like advanced talks I don't really care as that could mean anything depending on how how someone wants to interpret it. It could mean you've made a bid that's been accepted or you've made a bid and are negotiating but it's close etc.

What matters to me is have we made a bid or on talks or not. We did and we are.

I don't see it as fake news and take it as what Romano has always been and always will be, someone who is trying to line his own pocket but he's rarely ever far from the truth of things.

Tears, can't believe the player who has been waiting for a club in the champo league, and has been turning down clubs left right and centre as a result, is waiting for a club in the champo league.

Someone at the club needs to get back into the art of tapping up to know if players are actually interested

Lets wait and see, hes probably 3rd or 4th choice at CL clubs.

This is how the market works, you get to mid August and some of these lads just fall and look for the contract.

As reported yesterday the club are in contact with player reps and club - that doesn't sound like there isn't a deal there to me, might be unlikely or even ideal from the players point of view, but its not a flat walk away.
The frustrating thing for me with players wanting Champions League football is that it seems as though every single player from top flight clubs think they are capable of playing regularly for Champions League clubs. Of course, the Champions League is the highest level in club football and for that reason alone players will want to play in it. However, players would be better off realising that they can get opportunities elsewhere and could even become heroes at other clubs.

Maybe it is just me, but I don't see the appeal of joining a club just because they play in the Champions League. Would Fofana rather be fourth choice at, say, Chelsea, or first choice with us?

I think Everton have been advised through intermediaries to make a bid for him, with them knowing full well haven't got a chance of signing him.

It was reported the week that he wants to play CL football so why have we bid knowing this.

I believe we've been used to smoke out interest...it's all smoke and mirrors.

I do find this attitude to any player who chooses to back himself at the highest level odd.
Squad size these days means a good player will get game time and the chance to prove themselves and become first choice.
If you don’t have some self belief you aren’t likely to succeed anywhere .
At the very least you get to spend time getting top level coaching surrounded by high quality players . Even if you fail to become a regular , you have the opportunities to raise your game commensurately.
Obviously it’s disappointing for teams at our level , but until we are able to break the cycle and compete regularly at the highest level we will always struggle to recruit top level players.
Our scouting system really needs urgent attention.
Chelsea are apparently selling Felix to a club in the middle East a year after they signed him. There will be plenty more examples of that going forward.

CL clubs need players that can influence games now and if a player can't do that yet they can fall away.

CL have a lot of their business done already, Fofana would appear to be down any shopping list they may have whereas he would be top of ours.

Any of the big clubs would happily spend on him in a couple of years if he does well and the player will certainly be able to include escape clauses in the contract.

He isn't an Everton fan so probably Chelsea

Probably fourth choice for Chelsea mate, glamour club, Champions league on his CV, much more wages than we can pay and when he gets bored over getting splinters in his arse another guaranteed Champions league club.

They don't really want Champions League football mate. The want the profile of being able to say they played in the Champions League as it leads to a better contract in the future.

Clubs that play in the Champions League amongst the top 5 leagues also pay the best wages. Its career progression and wage improvement plain and simple.

The higher the profile of the player the better contract they can get on the market.

Not really about this lad specifically, more a general point. A while ago a player would expect a big move after 5 good years, now they seem to expect it after 5 good games. Maybe I’m just an old fart, but they want to run before they can walk.

It's also about their own personal sponsorship deals, you'll get a far better boot deal if f you're for example signing for real Madrid than for Everton even if you never play a minute at Madrid
