Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Maybe the Freidkins thought we were another Roma and could attract bigger names . Seems to be a gap between where we think we are and where we actually are. Top players want Europe , they aren't interested in 'the project' or a shiny new ground. Time to go for some realistic targets that want to be at the club before other teams around us get them.

Cause they are crap mate.

They speak VERY highly of you, mate ;)

This squad as it is right now would be in a relegation scrap, because we are a couple of injuries away from having Tyler Onyango coming on in Premier League games.

We need 6 more players just to stand still from last season.

Standing still is harsh. But 5 or 6 more players should push us on!

Think we can file that Fofana link in the bin as agent fed guff.

However, looks like giant haystacks at forest has threatened to kneecap MGW into signing a new deal so that takes a domestic competitor away for McAtee

If true then as ive been saying it is INCOMPETENCE.

You dont bid for a player until their agent gives you the green light.

I am utterly shocked a player who turned down Forest for CL teams doesn't want to now suddenly join Everton just because we bid for him.

Shocked.

Indeed. Why would we bid?

What you reckon Nymzee?

Not much reason for optimism around Fofana given asking price, competition and possibly player reluctance. These are the situations where we need to be decisive. Make our best bid. Move on fast if not good enough. The time for trying to get cute has long passed.

Contact the agent.

Thats it. Contact the agent.

Ask him to check with the club what they would accept & ask the player if hes interested.

Conceicao? Fofana?

Does feel like they've come in all guns blazing. We'll get all the boss players AND only pay what we think.

There will have to be an adjustment based on our position as a club i.e. not at the top of the food chain atm

Option a) pay more

Option b) go down your list to the next option

It probably needs to be on a case by case basis.
Exactly that, no one is coming to us because we are Everton. It means nothing as does the stadium….thats not a key driver in joining us (its the cherry on the icing on the cake as it were) - we will only recruit the best up and coming taken where more esteemed clubs are interested by…

being in the PL which is a desired destination for players)
providing first team opportunities and development and paying over the odds in salary which makes our offer difficult to refuse
reasonable contract length (everyone else seems to offer four to five years yet we seem to offer three for some players)
in some cases release clauses. Any up and coming player who has confidence in themselves will see us as a year or two stepping stone and will not want us holding other clubs to ransom.

Yes we have missed some already with this strategy.

I’ve no idea how it all works within the game but I’m sure agents aren’t averse to stringing clubs along to encourage other interest?

I’ve got absolutely no doubt we have contacted the agent, that’s how these things work. As I said, I would imagine it’s a case of him preferring a move elsewhere if it materialises but being aware that it might not and so listening to what we have to say. Even the tweet from tavolieri says he has ā€˜other plans’ not ā€˜no interest’, the 2 are very different things.

I get the stress around us not having signed all our targets, but the reasons for that have been documented by the club in the last few days. For to long Everton have bought badly and it seems there’s a change in strategy, in that we are seemingly all out for our top targets.

For to long there was no strategy, no direction and no team in place. I get the need for signings and the need for fans to see it happen quickly but patience is required if they haven’t done what they said come close if window then it’s time to panic.

Change isn’t coming over night. But it has to start at the top and start now, only then can things really change in the long term. I’m sure this won’t be a popular opinion and time will tell if this change is long lasting, but this feels different than the last few years. Just hopefully different in a better way!

I still think we need another centre-forward—ideally someone who can lead the line but also play out wide. I remember under Moyes we used to have five strikers: Yakubu, Saha, Johnson, Anichebe, and Vaughan. I know the game has changed, but it would be nice to have the flexibility for different tactics and formations.... So having just three now doesn’t feel like enough, especially given the injury struggles we had last season when we were down to the bare bones. Chermiti needs time and regular minutes to develop, and I don’t think he’ll get much playing time here at the moment, as he doesnt look ready to be starting PL games.

They knew the issues and the number of players who were leaving the club.

To leave it this late is pretty poor planning. Turning up to a pre season tour of the USA with a load of kids isn’t a good look as well.

We had 2 GK’s on the bench again and 5 kids.

Despite my original optimism it’s all starting to look a bit familiar.

Hope I’m wrong of course, but that was a bit of a reality check. Bournemouth were able to make changes and bring on players they will use in their squad this year.
