Who is to blame for the lack of new signings?

Why do we have a lack of new signings?

We have been a basket case club for over 5 years. Getting a new stadium and owners who look like they know what they are doing will not suddenly make champs league/Europe quality players want to join us.

Signing Branthwaite was a massive statement but if you look at the current squad and you were a young player with lots of potential and already proving yourself in Europe, would you join our team or a team in or around European places?

It will take time to make us desirable again. We are also still hamstrung by financial constraints.

When we have got ‘quality’ players before, we have played paid big wages and that was part of our problem. Don’t think TFG will overpay or make the same mistakes.

I don’t think there’s any real singular blame being honest

Should we have got Branthwaite and IGG done quicker? Yeah

Did we negotiate too long on Doucoure, Keane and DCL’s futures? Probably

Should we have sorted out the two hires that can’t start for another two months back in April/May? Absolutely

Is Moyes dithering? Judging by his post match comments last night I don’t think so

Are the targets too ambitious? No not for me

Are we fans too picky? Yes, we moan about wanting good players but then we get linked to good players and the attitude is ‘he won’t come here’ then make made up situations about crap players like it’s more a given

We`ll sign players late in the window. When you`re hovering around the bottom 6 in the PL for so many seasons most players will take a look at other options before signing as its a lot easier to coast along at a mid table team than it is to be in a relegation scrap.

I doubt that any single party is entirely to blame for our lack of transfer business, but nobody can say for sure without knowing the inner workings of the club. Following Moyes' comments, I am confident that our business will pick up pace over the next couple of weeks leading up to the Roma friendly, starting with Aznou.
