Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Pickford? That was very telling. Both he and Moyes came out last night publicly bemoaning the size of the squad and that wouldn’t have gone unnoticed. For all the “we’re not going to make mistakes in the market” stuff from Kinnear yesterday, the pressure is mounting on them to get deals over the line.

I think we’ve reached the point now where for all the reasonable stance they’re taking on not spending more than they need to and negotiating hard to get deals for good fees, the realisation must be hitting that they’re just gonna have to pay a little more than they’d ideally like to to get these deals done.

Think we’ll see positive movement in the next 24/48 hours partly due to the pressure applied by first manager, and now players to get a move on!

Fancy Pickford and Moyes both pissing the bed, they both need to be more unconcerned sharpish. Pfhut!

Nope. We should be top half (which would coincidentally make us comfortably safe).

Just pointing out that being beaten by Bournemouth in pre season doesn’t mean relegation or a relegation scrap.

This squad as it is right now would be in a relegation scrap, because we are a couple of injuries away from having Tyler Onyango coming on in Premier League games.

We need 6 more players just to stand still from last season.

Think we can file that Fofana link in the bin as agent fed guff.

However, looks like giant haystacks at forest has threatened to kneecap MGW into signing a new deal so that takes a domestic competitor away for McAtee

We had a preseason under Moyes where we lost every game and finished 4, we had preseason where we won loads of games and finished bottom half
Right so what you are saying then is it might be a good thing we are having a poor preseason otherwise we might end up struggling. That makes perfect sense.

I do get what you are saying but the point is that this team will be in a relegation scrap this season regardless of preseason unless it is significantly strengthened asap and it would definitely be more beneficial to be training in preseason with the strengthened squad you will be starting the season with than not. Common sense really.

No, I will blame the last month actually. We’ve known since May that 10 players were walking out the door, the window has been open since early June. There is no excuse to be moving so slowly, we needed a minimum of 8 players just to fill a matchday squad.
The re-signing of potentially exiting players absolutely should have been sorted.

And even with an incoming new recruitment team, we have had Moyes and his staff in for around 6 months and a fairly amicable takeover so we shouldn't have had too traumatic a change in transfer strategy and targets. It may well be that there's many a slip and it's never too easy to get these things over the line but I can understand frustrations from the fan base and the manager and the players spilling over.

We have effectively shot ourselves in the foot by not being further advanced in our deals because we should be bedding new recruits into the team now.

Let's hope for the some movement after Moyes's moaning.

Without an honest approval of our position we will never improve.

Yes it was just a friendly but we’ve just been humiliated by Bournemouth which highlighted how little depth we have and how bad our recruitment has been so far this summer.
I didn't realise you had input into transfers and strategy. Please crack on.
