Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Without an honest approval of our position we will never improve.

Yes it was just a friendly but we’ve just been humiliated by Bournemouth which highlighted how little depth we have and how bad our recruitment has been so far this summer.
They’ve humiliated us several times over the past few seasons in games that actually matter.

They beat us 3 times last season.

And we’ve still be comfortably safe.

We won't end the transfer window with the squad we have. We are making improvements. Yes, we all agree that it's been slow progress but the club and manager aren't sitting around thinking we can go through the whole season with these players. They know they need to recruit and they're trying to do so.

It also was nowhere near a humiliation, you're overreacting loads.

Do think for the lack of activity to get to a point where a key player is publically bemoaning the size of the squad is a bit embarrassing tbh. Need to get a move on this week.
Pickford? That was very telling. Both he and Moyes came out last night publicly bemoaning the size of the squad and that wouldn’t have gone unnoticed. For all the “we’re not going to make mistakes in the market” stuff from Kinnear yesterday, the pressure is mounting on them to get deals over the line.

I think we’ve reached the point now where for all the reasonable stance they’re taking on not spending more than they need to and negotiating hard to get deals for good fees, the realisation must be hitting that they’re just gonna have to pay a little more than they’d ideally like to to get these deals done.

Think we’ll see positive movement in the next 24/48 hours partly due to the pressure applied by first manager, and now players to get a move on!

We did well to keep it to only 3-0 with that second half performance.

If Patterson ever plays for the club again we have big problems.

They scored one goal from their own work. Two of their goals were gift wrapped by stupid lapses of concentration . One of those by a player playing completely out of position due to lack of availability of our senior centre halves. It was nowhere near a 3-0 game and we were comfortably the better side first half.

They were far fresher second half when they practically changed the whole team with fresh legs. That told when we had the likes of 36 year old Gana toiling in the hot conditions due to a lack of numbers!

Not sure why Moyes didn’t bring the subs he did have available though, on much earlier. Armstrong for example should have been on at the start of the second half.

Once we get Branthwaite, Tarkowski, and Keane back in to the squad, on top of a handful of new additions, things will start to look much better squad wise.

I was about to make a very similar point. First goal, a bit slack in defence but a cracking shot and then 2 kamikaze moments.

If we had put on a few young lads on at half time and another few after 10 minutes and we are thinking the first team should be OK if no injuries but we need a few in ASAP. The same as now but without the belly aching. Hindsight is 20/20 though.

I am however on team bedwetting over Patterson after yesterday.

Things will start to look much better squad wise when we have signed 6 more players.

We will not be buying Dibling, not should we be at anything remotely close to what Saints want for him.

Especially so him but Hutchinson falls into the same bracket neither of them are remotely close to being 50 and 35m quid players.

Of course Dibling isnt worth the money, its all on potential.

Like your 'fave' McAtee. We cant get the top players, as ive said for many years, we have to go for them young and gamble.

If we get the right player for £30-40mil and then he elevates the team for 2-3 seasons we can keep or sell for double the money.

Having said that, the interesting thing is the 26-28 year old bracket. They seem undervalued and we do need 2 of them to come in and hit the ground running.

We need 3 in this week.

Moyes being let down by the Everton ownership, gives me that warm feeling of nostalgia. My salad days, so to speak.

I think this is ALL on Moyes.

He has form.
