In English, Matthew?
This is key, for too long we've been comfortable being the stepping stone and that's it: happy to sell our best players because that's the 'business model'
The Branthwaite contract is for me the best bit of business we've done this window on that basis
Shows that we are serious about improving our position and not happy with permanent mid table mediocrity and being a top 6 finishing school
players see us as a club
trying to go places
so don’t want to go
Spot on here mateDefinitely with Branthwaite.
Majority grasp the significance of the contract whilst also appreciating the goal is to make a massive profit with him between 1 amd 3 years down the line, unless our or his priorities change. It sets a precedent that transfers of our better players will be on our own terms, which is only one part of the wider strategy. The multilayer plans (and yes plans can be broken/changed) is not really what the average fan should be concerned with. The acid test is that most of this goes on in the background with little fanfare and the onfield stuff looks after itself.
Maybe a little over simplified on my part and there will be a drama or 2 ro come but more + than - for me.
If we're unable to demonstrate any progress in the next year and a half then I fully expect him to leave for a bumper amount of cashIf you think Jarrad signing a new deal means he won’t be sold, you’re very likely to be disappointed.
It will (and needs to) continue to be the business model for (in all likelihood) the foreseeable future. Almost every club in the world is a “selling club”
The difference needs to be that we sell at proper prices, and in such a way that we have the replacement buttoned up (or ideally already at the club)
What else is this place for.Good coz everyone of your posts over the past 2 weeks have been a diabolical read.
I actually crowned you "Chief Bed wetter extraordinaire".
Still don't mind jack Harrison as squad filler though! [Hides]Whether or not we can land Fofana there is a modicum of encouragement in the fact that we are going for a player who has huge upside, is exciting and is widely wanted. Jack Harrison he isn’t!
I should say that it totally agree with you hereIf you think Jarrad signing a new deal means he won’t be sold, you’re very likely to be disappointed.

Because that's how it works. He's sitting there with his hands tied while a committee of bureaucrats holds him hostage. They tell him to play it cool and tell the embassy that he's being treated well, hand him the phone and release the gag. He slips in a number, and now the pressure is on! If they don't come up with nine players, we'll know something is wrong and send in the commandos.Moyes putting pressure on the ‘transfer committee’ by stating a number?
Mate get over to the "what I last ate" thread and am giving a clinic on smoking items of food in a smoker. What else is this place for.
Mate, we are a stepping stone for the majority of footballers. We are not the peak of the mountain for anybody. This is key, for too long we've been comfortable being the stepping stone and that's it: happy to sell our best players because that's the 'business model'

Is what football is now even at the top teams, at us players will want to leave and that is fine. Is up to us to hopefully be like a brighton ect who can be in a situation so the club can get top money. Then go again for the next player, is why even if bringing in barry or fofana should be looking for the next player now. Has been a problem at us have held on to players, we will have to accept this will happen is not a bad thing.fofana is probably not good enough for a top champions league club and will use us a stepping stone if he does join
