Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Roma have signed 2 players, 1 on loan and spent 20m, they have also sold 4 players for 45m.
Everton have signed 3 players and spent 45m.

Roma spend minus 25m
Everton PLUS 45m

Get out.

Had this convo the other day, funnily enough, and I kind of disagree. I was specifically talking about Delap, and the fact that each player will back themselves to be THE one that breaks the striker curse, or gets a regular spot despite a massive squad, etc. It's the kind of arrogance you want in a player but very often it ultimately fails them.

That's why I think Luiz will come to us in the hopes of springboarding to a bigger club. It's not because he wants to be an Everton hero and see out his career here, he just knows a club in our position will pay him handsomely, he'll walk into the team and he's capable of producing the form that will get him another, probably final big move in a year or two.

This is why I always roll my eyes a bit when I hear "if they don't want to play for the club, don't sign them", or some version of NSNO-based cryarsing. Best we can hope to be right now is a stepping stone, and do it well like Porto, Atletico, Brighton etc have done. I'm alright with it. Bring your apathetic brilliance here, Dougy baby.
He wants to be in the World Cup squad. I think both us and Forest offer him that opportunity.

Luiz not turned up for pre-season training at Juventus.

Just means he’ll be further behind the others in terms of fitness.

Do I think the lad fresh from a U21 campaign with France will give it more than 5 months before defecting to play for Guinea? Yeah, probably.
Or the other fella who's nation didn't actually qualify..
He would have a very difficult time playing for Guinea in AFCON considering they didn't qualify.

Had a mare here chief ☝️

Defo. I think Forest will have a hard job recreating last season's success, though, and we *should* be climbing the table, so I am hoping he sees his chance to be part of the success story.

If his view is the next 10 months or so, then I think you can make a case for Forest, they'll have more games and in Europe. If he's looking a bit past that while still playing week-in, week-out, I think we're the better option.
