Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Nope. 6, with a maximum 2 domestic.

FIFA rules allow up to 6.
PL rules state only 2 domestic.
So we could have 4 international and 2 domestic (or 1 and 5).
Correct.
And these players aren’t free.
We spend a large loan fee (often a low transfer fee sized amount of money) and pay their wages and get nothing back from it.
They also have to be good enough that they stand a chance of getting a game now and again, or else why bother coming? This vastly reduces the viable options of players we’d want, and then we’d still have to convince them to come here.

All that is true.

However, loan signings do give us a chance to get a player into the club at relatively little cost compared to a transfer fee.
It gives us the opportunity to play them if they are good enough and maybe then sign them for real money as we have done with Alcaraz.

Because they were only on loan we have been able to send back Lindstrom, Harrison and others at no further cost.
Even Mangala who got injured playing for us was sent back after the loan agreement expired.

Haha, and the rest mate, they were taking the mick out of him on the radio the other day, by all accounts there is plenty of interest in him but he wants £150k per week and clubs are basically just refusing to pay it and he won't drop his demands. It sounds like he could have had a move by now otherwise.
No club is paying that with his goal record never mind his injury record 🙄

I'd rather us have limited loan slots to work with anyway. I mean, our strike-rate last season was 2 good (Alcaraz and Mangala) and 3 bad.

Looking further back, did we ever see Vinagre, El Ghazi, etc?

I know someone will jump down my throat and mention Rom, but getting a player of his quality these days on loan would be a thankless task. We're essentially a mid-table club until we prove otherwise.

….agree. Be interesting if any of the youth players push themselves forward for squad consideration in the US. I think there was reports clubs were keen on taking Sherif on loan but the likes of him might impress enough for Moyes to keep him.

Great opportunity for a youngster or two to impress.
Do we know which of the younger attacking players are in the US.
Heath and Clarke I expect but who else?

I do not blame clubs at all. Reinforces the point that if he doesn't budge he isn't playing for anybody anytime soon. The longer he leaves it, even with reduced demands there'd be fewer takers without match fitness and just like that he could go at least half a season without a club.

Fine line for players just as much as looking at us and how we may be going about our own business.
Championship level player cant be demanding those kind of wages.
