Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

It’s usually the players we sign at the end of the window in a blind panic that end up vilified because they’re crap btw.
Is it, though? Or is that just something to say to justify the daily cryarsing about not having signed enough players yet? A quick Google tells me the following were signed on, or before 23rd July in their respective Summer windows:

Ashley Young
Arnaut Danjuma
Andre Gomes
Fabian Delph
Davy Klaassen
Michael Keane
Sandro Ramirez
Cuco Martina
Tom Cleverley

I have been sure to stick to your "only the last 10 years counts" rule, plus I CBA anymore.

What a heartbreaking body of evidence this is.

An absolute knock-out blow. Touche. They all obviously hit the ground running too as they all had full preseasons to get fit and learn the tactics. 😂

There'll no doubt be a much chirpier list of later signings that are boss. Ideally the incoming regime would have had their recruitment team ready to go and we'd be further ahead than we are now, but they didn't.

What I CAN say with surety is that it's not part of some shadowy plot where they trick us into thinking we have cash to spend, only to not spend anything and sit there laughing at us in their volcano lair somewhere. It's a bit of common or garden crapness/naivete/unfamiliarity. By the end of the window we'll have the vast majority, if not all of what we need ON PAPER. Some of them might end up being crap. Hopefully they'll all be boss.

I genuinely can't understand why we (or more clubs) aren't massively investing in their youth structure. Surely the answer is right there?

Get steady in the league, invest into a huge youth structure and begin producing talent:

Talent comes through and becomes part of the squad
Talent comes through and becomes a star and is sold to the usual suspects for big money.
Talent is sold off as prospects/potential, making us money.

Yes, it requires patience and money, but surely long term it's ideal?

Transfers are getting more and more absurd and costly.

This is one of the new owners key strategies they laid out upon taking ownership.

We will naturally not see proof for a while but their will be shoots that begin to appear that suggest we are on that path soon.

I know they're being more tight on leaks (apart from bobble who knows agents) but I am a bit concerned there's 0 news.

Barry was getting updates weeks before he signed.
It is a bit strange really, because even if the club have clamped down on their end, most leaks tend to come from the selling club's side or the player's agent.

Not to mention the fact that we're not even getting the usual stacks of completely made up rumours.
