Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

We'll make signings to give us the sized squad we need and we'll finish between 7th-12th.
A good manager ( Carlo ) got us to 8th with additions similar to what we need today, he did so playing a centre half at right back as a compromise.

Hope another good manager in DM can learn from the past and not compromise there and sort it out for the foreseeable future.

I genuinely can't understand why we (or more clubs) aren't massively investing in their youth structure. Surely the answer is right there?

Get steady in the league, invest into a huge youth structure and begin producing talent:

Talent comes through and becomes part of the squad
Talent comes through and becomes a star and is sold to the usual suspects for big money.
Talent is sold off as prospects/potential, making us money.

Yes, it requires patience and money, but surely long term it's ideal?

Transfers are getting more and more absurd and costly.

You really dont think the whole league isnt investing in youth?

They steal players from all over the world.

If he does I'll buy a jigsaw....an a t-shirt.

The other year I posted up a lot about him, he's super close to his family, uncles played for St Helens Rugby, brother plays for Bolton, the Alan Ball connection will matter to the lad as well. Even got the Ndiaye connection here as well.

Reckon Moyes knowing the club could sell the club to him or maybe already has done hence him knocking back cl teams in Germany and Italy moves

Mainly because all the best young players come from abroad and Child Trafficking is illegal.

I think mate one of the issues is the likes of City and Chelsea come in and hoover up all the talent.

Funny thing is that is actually what people will suggest when we bring someone in on deadline day. “Hasn’t had a proper pre season lad”
There are two strands to 'fitness'. The fitness overall and adjustment to the new club and tactics.

We had a manager last year that was prioritising fitness and gaffers day over tactics. By mid Dec the team looked knackered and looked like they had not worked on any tactics.

Most professional players will maintain a high level of fitness, the tactics and squad dynamics are the reason to get players in early. But even that depends on if it's a tactical adjustment or not and if they are being bought to play in a familiar role.

To summarise, there isn't a one size fits all, approach to dealing with people.
