Granit Xhaka to Sunderland. Actually think that's a poor signing compared to the rest they've made because it looked like he'd run out of energy the last time I saw him 🤷‍♂️
I thought he still looked good. He was an important player for them in the invincible season and only missed one game. He’s probably been brought in as back-up from what I’ve seen of our midfield so far in pre-season.

Personally think it’s a coup for a newly promoted team.

Probably just me, then. Like you've said, he was important during the invincible season. Maybe it's just my brain telling me that he had a drop off because Leverkusen weren't as good in general?

Possibly, mate.

He’s just about 33 now and he was playing in a deeper role than the previous seasons, so he didn’t look as prominent on the pitch. His positional play was excellent and he still dictated from deep.

Definitely at the stage where his brain is one step ahead of most to make up for his body slowing down which you have absolutely noticed correctly.

i couldn’t comment on how he is, but we’re constantly being told we need PL experience - and that helps with that I suppose.

Also, signal of intent for the rest of the window like. We’ve got other deals in the pipeline I imagine - and this won’t harm negotiations with them

I think that's maybe why he's in the team. To play like Barry did for us.

I mean, I guess it's a plan. It's not a good one I don't think. Barry was in a much better team than Sunderland will have, regardless of what they spend this summer. I see a lot of bookings and sending offs in Xhaka's future.

Dunno. Tempo is less in the bundesliga and he'll be doing a lot more running around which he may not be at a level to compete at.

Also odd why he's so keen to go there.

I mean...if he was of interest and Moyes thought he was capable, id have him. So there's something amiss
