Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Nah we'd kept tabs on him for ages - he was massively sought after, and the timing of the bid from us was very intentional.

Acting last minute is a very high risk strategy ofc but can work, in rare circumstances, can't do it with multiple deals though.

Does limit the getting gazumped angle ofc.

Partly think this window so far everyone is letting the CL teams throw around all their cash early on a duvet there stuff done before starting to go for players partly to minimise getting a spurs or Newcastle coming on over the deal.

Gylfi, Williams, and Bernard are quite similar to Moyes types I'd say. He might not have paid £45m for Gylfi but he'd fit the general Moyes profile quite well i'd say. Sandro and Klaassen not so much.
Not sure mate, Williams was slow and small, Moyes tends to stick his CBs with pace - it's shy I think O'Brien will take Tarkowskis spot over the season.

Liverpool were actually interested because he done a job on Gerrard in CL.

I think we where more interested in Defour at the time and had 12.5 mil bid turned down,The Felliani deal for whatever reason was easier to do.

Did Defour snap his leg which is why we changed away from him? Or did that happen after?
Fellaini was always the one they wanted at that point, we tried to sign Defour the year after but I don't think we'd been interested at the time we signed Fellaini.

If you are committed to developing a player a good amount of playing time is possible during a season , which ultimately benefits the club .
Playing someone like Antonio or Vardy will almost certainly only benefit the players retirement fund .
It’s a dead end , high cost , low return strategy.
Not really. It would be a one year deal for cover while Chermiti is able to develop properly. He's been at Everton for c.2+ years and barely played. Some of that is down to injury but when he's been available he's not been used much. He needs consistent gametime rather than a couple of minutes here and there. Look at how much Armstrong has developed from a 6 month loan deal.
