Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I think we simply cant afford or attract the quality of players moyes/club want, and are scared of spending what money we have on unproven players.
Simply buying a skilful, quality right sided attacker would have made me optimistic about this season. Im still very much thinking it could be harrison, coufal and soucek level of purchases than luiz, kumo etc.

Listening to the Byeline with Paddy Boyland he says a lot goin on behind the scenes but finding it hard to close deals.
But he also says he wont put out a name unless there is something in the rumour and the deal is progressing.
So the Aznou links should be taken as something is happening.

I don't think that comes as a surprise now with where things are.

This is when you switch to your 2nd option and work down.

If the work was put in, those players will be good enough too.

There is no defeatism there, they just have to deal with reality as it emerges. Settling might not be optimal, but it can still be good enough.

Yes but its not like buying a new car. Every player is unique. Think of it more like buying a house. Do people bid for 6 houses all at the same time? No. They try to buy the one they like the most and if that falls through they try to buy the next one they like the most at the time. And so on and so on until they find the right.
Are you trying to say we have set our heart on a couple of palatial mansions we can’t afford and we will have to make do with a couple of run down bungalows and a garden shed in need of repair ?

Or, it takes time to do deals for the right players.

Buy right or buy twice.

I do reckon we’ll spend £25m+ on a RW as it’s just so crucial we secure a good quality one. But this is Everton and we don’t always do the business that’s required…

Don't get this at all.

If "we could have bought 6 players by now ".
Yet you say that they "wouldnt be the players we want or need"

Then why would we have them 6 players on any list?
Doesn't make sense.
Because you can buy the right player at the wrong price and the wrong player at the right price

Of course not, I did not say that. But if we have our preference, we should not give in on July 22nd.
When should we give in?
This seems to be a moving goalpost for the apologists.

Most were saying not to panic as everything would be sorted by the time we fly off to the States. (Tomorrow)
