Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Beto and Barry are massive too.

We were a major threat from set pieces last season and if Doucoure is replaced this season, we will probably be more so.

We just need to see if we can get a decent dead ball coach and someone decent to kick the ball for him to coach.
I know. And if Europe’s best is currently out of favour it would be an effective, astute signing. That’s more than one way to skin a cat when it comes to winning matches.

You saw how much Liverpool panicked at Goodison last season and they are the best in the league.

Modern sides don’t like it up ‘em!

Of course. But if you want to avoid that concern then you're locking yourself I to waiting til they've proven it at another club and are worth 60m.

Players like him who will be at minimum be 'okay' but have a huge potential upside are who we should be looking at, because we can afford that risk - if a player is only okay then we haven't got backwards compared to say if an Arsenal took that risk. Like if we replace Garner with Hackney and he turns out to be league average, then we have at worst stood still. But if he replicates his form then we're the ones with the 60m midfielder.

Fair shout mate, it's why I was perfectly happy years back when we went for Garner as I thought he could end up a tremendous player for us.

Would prefer us just to get someone who can take a set piece. I find it hard to believe that no one in the Everton squad apart from McNeil can take a corner. Garner, Alcaraz Ndiaye should put some hours in on the training ground and get corners from both sides up to scratch rather than us having to buy a player specifically to take them and carry him In the team.

Whilst I don’t disagree with calling United a mess, I’m a bit reticent when you consider our current best team includes Garner, Mkyolenko and an out of position centreback. The less said about the bench the better.

Hopefully this will be rectified over the next month.

I mean there's a couple of points in that. Garner/Mykolenko are not paid mega bucks though, and have been solid players. Our problems have been buying older crocks on long contracts. That's more my point really. Like if you have a squad of Garners/Mykolenkos you can slowly improve.

The other thing, is they have spent a fortune. We have been working on a show string comparatively.

We have to take some risks seeking quality at affordable prices but that also means we might have to add cheaper/older depth pieces as insurance policies that might be unappealing to many eg take a risk on Hackney but add an Ndidi or Brownhill as one example. CM and RW feel to me like places where ideally we do not rely on a single new option with no PL experience. That only makes our transfer task bigger, though insurance guys can come late window with less risk.

Saw this comment on the Everton reddit page. GOOD TIMES?!

Knowing how big difference it is between Premier League and Championship these days, I find it baffling how many in here that mean Everton should pay silly money for average Championship players.

The best teams with the best players in Championship have no chance to avoid relegation from Premier League. We see teams come up, spend serious money and still get relegated.

If we buy Championship players we'll end up as a Championship team within a few years.
