Concerned

I think sometimes folk are dissapointed and concerned because their expectations are on a different planet. Some folk saying we are going to have 7+ signings in one window......never realistically going to happen, and it will take us multiple windows to improve this squad if we are to bring in quality players.

Groundhog Day.

@kiss the crest was correct there btw. I among many others was young, naive and bright eyed enough to think everything was going fine and the people in charge had it under control.

That summer was the end of my blind faith and the beginning of my sceptic until proven otherwise era.

I think a lot have the same concerns mate. I shared this last week;

^ Theres a fair few players we're in for, Kubo (their tour finishes 24th), Grealish, McAtee, Hutchinson, Hackney etc who haven't moved yet though.

So while it is concerning, it's much less concerning than previous years when we've been desperately short without the capacity to make changes.

At some point, needs must will kick in and we'll either overpay, or move down the list to more pragmatic names.
I think a couple out of this bunch end up joining, Alan Myers was saying he thinks Kubo has the biggest chance of being the next one in

I can see Grealish arriving here late on in the window on loan, just a feeling (the longer it goes on, the more likely he ends up here imo)

McAtee the same, the longer it drags on, I think theres a good chance he ends up here

Dont really want us spending 35m on that Hutchinson

Moyes has traditionally dithered a bit on transfers, although Iremember the summer of 06/07 were we got Howard, Lescott and Johnson in early, and we were top after 4 games, beating liverpool 3-0 and spurs 2-0 at WHL

You don't think we're going to make another 4 signings before the end of the window? You should be hugely concerned if that's the case, we'd have to be extremely lucky with injuries and suspensions to get through the season with that squad.

Not concerned at the moment, more disappointed that we're going into the American tour so thin on the ground.

We have under four weeks to start the premier league with a decent squad, and just under six weeks to sign five or six more players.

It really isnt a lot of time.

We've left ourselves with too much to do. Should have added at least two more by now.

People are underestimating just how much work we needed to do this summer. More than any summer that's gone before.

I suppose it depends on what your expectations are.

Some think we could replicate Villa and make a bid for Top 4/5, others think Top Half / Top 8 and others still want just a comfortable, worry-free season where we are never threatened by relegation.

I'm in the middle - with smart buying we should be looking for a top half finish and see what happens.

We need a lot more work done to be comfortable next season, let alone aim for anything more.

I'm concerned, but I do expect players to come in and for the window to develop into something broadly considered ok and acceptable.

Because it's the first test of TFG and the new personnel though, more broadly I want them to do better than ok. Not perfect, but not just alright either. Get a bit of excitement going, in the weeks we are moving to a magnificent new home.

Really what you want is a bit of hope. I have modest enough expectations of TFG but I do want to get a sense that this summer is important to them and the people they've entrusted to do the work. We've had decades of despair mixed with false dawns.

Folk want to see progress, and something that amounts to more than just ok, a bit of excitement, glamour even. Maybe we can't afford glamour now. Ok then, but stretch the envelope a bit and give us a squad that looks like it is on the up.

As I see it, people have had enough disappointment for a lifetime. There is a lot of anxiety about, it's understandable until we see more players in.

Tbh we have a fanbase that find it very difficult to be too critical of the club and I think we are already seeing the narrative shift from ‘this team is crap and needs a massive overhaul’ to ‘we actually only need 3 or 4 squad fillers’.

The club is in the honeymoon period.

New ground, new owners, new manager. People want to believe everything will be fine and will ignore anything to the contrary.

I’m concerned we haven’t had any more full back links since the Tete deal went under, not convinced by Patto and don’t want to see Big Jake wasted there

There’s two issues here, if we go balls in and throw big money and wages at targets then we’ve learned nothing from the past few years but at the same time we’re losing names because other teams do have that ability
